Thank goodness Earnings Week is here at last! It's been a long wait, but nice to close on the highest week-ending price for 2015 after a prolonged FUD storm. Waiting for Tuesday makes me feel like a kid waiting for Christmas again. Expectations are the only possible dark cloud I can see, but I am certainly guilty as charged, so it's hard to blame anyone else. Let's get this party started!

Tequila's all round...
I know this is not the highest but fairly sure that celebrations are most welcome!

The biggest negative I see is WS saying that whatever comes next won't turn the dial and this is as good as it will ever get - oh and yes - the old "law of large numbers" will be evoked. I'm hoping earnings are so good that it renders even the clowns like Colin Gilles speechless.

We have one more scare on Monday in the form of Greek election results. Might be a good opportunity to pick up something if the EOs decide to use that an excuse to manipulate Apple just a day before earnings.

I haven't been sleeping well of late, and I really had a dream last night that in the last minutes of a crucial day, AAPL suddenly turned from positive to down 3.5, then seconds later down 8.5. Then I woke up, and couldn't get back to sleep after that. What do you think this dream means?

It could mean withdrawal from medications or alcohol; or stress, anxiety, depression and PTSD or that you’re pregnant.

Stop eating the Jalapeno and hot sauce tacos in combination with Tequila shots while watching talking heads on CNBC and reading Henry Blodgett's latest "analysis".

I'm intrigued by the two reports on Friday that showed a continuing strong interest in 6 and 6+ purchases from those planning to buy a new smartphone in the next 90 days. This coincides with the telecoms offering new ways to acquire a smartphone...T-Mobile easing up on credit scores as a block, Sprint offering to "cut your bill in half". Sprint gives you the deal if you "turn in your old phone", so there is a sale for switchers...and T-Mobile opens the door to new sales as well among those who want an Iphone but had had credit problems. In both cases, aspiring Iphone owners have new ways to get the phones, including family plans....
With the first ninety days of Iphone 6 and 6+ sales absorbing the initial rollovers and early adaptors, now we move into the "I want it but how do I get it" crowd. The telecoms making it easier will only help Apple in this "slower" quarter.
And, when the watch comes out where will be another burst of activity to try and get Iphone 5 and 5s owners to upgrade so they can get full functionality out of the watch. I wonder if we will see promos by the telecoms specifically designed to capture the phone side of the Apple Watch pairing....I could see a "bring you Apple Watch into your Sprint store and we will exchange your Iphone 5 for an Iphone 6 on the following terms...".

Then I woke up, and couldn't get back to sleep after that. What do you think this dream means? I can guarantee that you will see this happen if you hold Apple stock long enough. When it happens there will be no warning and no rational explanation. There was no rational reason for us to go from 700 to 385, there was no rational reason for us to drop from 119 to 105, that is just the way it is and you have to be able to ride it out. I can see nothing, absolutely nothing that can stop Apple in the long run. We are not going to stop using computers and we are not going to live without cell phones. Apple is not going to stop innovating and the thieves who steal and copy will never really catch them. The long arc is upward. The self fulfilling EW movements, the FUD induced panic drops, even the fat fingered technical manipulation washes out over a 6-12 month time frame. If the shorter term movements bother you, get out of Apple. It is not worth the stress, and ultimately aren't we in this to improve our quality of life? EDIT: In re-reading this, I hope it doesn't sound harsh. I meant it to be encouraging and reassuring. More a "hang in there, everything will be OK" than "if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen"

Oh great google moogly. Joshua Peters (D) from Missouri's state House of Representatives is proposing a law that requires all purchases using a smartphone must also show identification AND the store record the ID #. The MacObserver link The idiot lawI can only conclude three things. #1. Joshua Peters is an idiot. #2. Joshua Peters is lobbying for money from Walmart or PayPal . #3. Joshua Peters is some how trying to make it easier for merchants to track anyone making a purchase (ie: government or see #2) I personally vote #1.

Kuo has a pretty impressive rumor track record. Not necessarily so on shipments, which isn't usually in the overall prediction mix, so to speak. I mean, hinting at just 10M iPads shipped (read: "sold") in CQ1 2015? That's a big YOY drop.

That's exactly what I was looking for Mav, nice job! So if I'm reading this correctly, they're getting a 1.1B boost this quarter margin free. Do you have this baked into your Rev/eps numbers? Thanks!

Sure, the initial eruption of iPads has slowed to a more manageable trickle of magma. But the first several waves of eruptions from Mount Appluvius™ are littered down the sides and continue to build the cone. Eventually each iPad will be replaced by something, probably something with a fruit logo on it, and the "old" one will be passed to someone else.

When you dream about that kind of stuff you are most certainly taking on too much risk in your investment portfolio probably.

How much are you PayPal-ing me? No, NET deferral is total wild-#$$ guessed at ~$900M...or so. Less headwind as % of revenue...whatever THAT means. Well, it DOES mean, IF the assumptions hold up, that there is a sliiiiight buffer vs ForEx. But very slight. One major company blamed ForEx for >5% impact within past week or so? 5% of $66+ B vs $200ish M "buffer"...

Looks like to add to the coming week's fun, NYC is gonna get socked with a nice winter storm.
Perhaps having less people at the trading desk might be a benefit to the retail investors.

My concern is not having internet or cable. I have a generator so that isn't my concern but I really need my internet. Cell signal (even with a booster) is not good around here given that no one wants a cell tower anywhere due to property values and/or possible health effects. Hope I don't lose it!
