There are people here that take a "JD Yep" to be official confirmation. I am in those ranks. Hold onto your shares, Nate. Seek first to understand.

Someone here posted that the iPad event would be Oct 23, because the earnings report was going to be Thursday Oct 25. Usually the report would come out on the Tuesday.
Good job to who ever that was!
The invites for the event should go out next Tuesday.
(I bought a bunch of Jan 600 C)

Well, we just witnessed what happens when they shut the machines off. Drop $4 in an instant on no volume, sickening.

AllThingsD ran with the story... ...and we may have a changed complexion for AAPL soon. Or not. Can't wait to see the new new iPad.

This is tricky since sentiment and earnings are "colliding". But I thought it was worth the risk to buy in again.
Back to a little over 1/3 cash.

Nick Nansen is confirming the hope that the iMac refresh will be announced on 10/23 as well as the new iPad. Hey, next time you're over at aapltrading check out the neat map link of members locations. I think we need one of those.

Now it's time to sit back and watch over a short time frame how the FUD veil is lifted and AAPL is once again revealed to be the most efficient cash engine ever designed ... Continuing to race at speeds that leave all competitors COVERED IN FUD DUST. Next week's OE is a crapshoot, in my mind, but the price of admission I paid yesterday for November calls is going to seem like grand theft following the rocket launch we see after Apple's guidance on the 25th.

So it looks like this means we will only have a "new iPad" and "new iPad Mini" going forward with the "old iPad" being phased out. Interesting, but I like it. Hitting multiple screen sizes is clearly Apple's focus as opposed to just hitting multiple price points.

I think they will keep the iPad 2 until the next iPad revision in March. So it will be: iPad 2 ($399 +) iPad Mini/Air/Jr ($249 or $299 +) iPad (3rd gen) ($499 +)

Makes sense and differentiates the product from other 7inchers. Man that is going to a HUGE xmas gift item this year. Feel sorry for all those parents having to shell out for their kids. ;D

Last year's iPad and iPad mini for $100 less. That's pretty damn formidable.

Bringing color into the equation would provide Apple a distinction. (Other than it being an Apple product, lol) I saw the new ipod commercial last night, I liked the colors and the commercial.

The iPod commercial is classic iPod commercial goodness, better than the Silhouettes(tm) IMHO. And it should reassure those who blame Apple for the commercials TBWA/Chiat-Day presumably still make for them (though of course Apple has to approve and all that). After all, why should Apple care so much about a "cash cow", mature, slowing, $6.4B or so a year arm of its business? iPad mini in iPod mini-esque colors would TERRIFY the competition. I hope it happens! ;D

Oh yeah, Intraday.
Well, AAPL continues to show nice relative strength. Perhaps iPad mini news is beginning to take effect...

If the ipod line was broken apart from Apple, where would that put it with its 6 Billion in yearly revenue and no debt? Answer, in the S&P 500. LOL Probably still one of the best Christmas gifts out there.

Sarcasm of course, MB. The iPod touch and nano will be big holiday gifts worldwide. Not enough to stem the YOY decline I bet, but certainly enough to increase nano/touch sales mix. I can see iPod ASP growing YOY for fiscal Q1 2013. While, I'm OT, we'll see how Nansen's iMac rumor pans out. I'm in the market for a new iMac within the next year or so.

Ouch. bears got a little burned around 627. So far, AAPL is still holding up well. Dare I say...higher low? (Man, it sounds weird to say that.)
