Felix is nuts! Watching this reminds me of watching Evil Knievel jump the Snake River on TV when I was a kid.

Thanks for the heads up. It was fun watching. I can't understand though why he didn't hold on for a little longer to break the freefall record. His team should have been updating him on progress toward that goal in my humble opinion. Seek first to understand.

Thanks so much for posting the link, chasmac! I knew the jump was imminent but neglected to check for the date. It was so spectacular watching it live. My wife and I were riveted watching during the minutes leading up to the jump and when he actually dropped from the capsule it was as close as I'll ever get to free falling from 128,000 feet. Whew!

Thanks Mark. The math causes me to believe the next dividend will be above $3.00.

I don't watch SNL (don't get most of the 'humor'), but after watching that skit perhaps I should.

Even at 16mm, couldn't get it all in one frame. Wouldn't that be a perfect shot for Apple's panorama view?

Was that the Dos Equis man? Nope, the Dos Equis man is a pathetic poseur who would never actually do something brave when he can just lie and say he did.

Thanks Mark. The math causes me to believe the next dividend will be above $3.00. My vote - will remain at $2.65. What makes anyone think this will get raised every quarter is beyond me. What other examples has anyone seen where the dividend rate was raised in such a fashion? Are we calling for $3.35 at the end of Q1 2013, $3.70 at the end of Q2 2013? New math indeed. All IMHO.

Still not used to pulling out my iPhone for general photography. It will be in my mind for next time. That being said, this shot was at ISO 12,800. Not sure what the iPhone would have picked up.

I read Apple's divvy announcement as starting at $2.65/share until further notice. If I had to guess, I'd say there'll be a divvy adjustment once a year.

Week ending, nearly every key index number was in the red. Hang Seng breaks above 21,000 for the first time in many months. Nikkei is only 2 % above lows of the 2 years, with the exception of one outlier. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq appears to be 1.7 % off its highs. The Euro Stoxx 50 is 9 % off its one-year high. www.bloomberg.com/markets/stocks/futures/

The SNL skit is hilarious. Love the "if you point it at the sun to take a picture" part. Apple's products are held to a standard that others only wish they could get to. The weight issue is baffling. To thin, are you serious? Sales are the determining factor and sales are good.

Agreed. My guess is the dividend remains for the next three payouts and then we see a hefty increase for the next 4 payments. I don't think Apple wants to get in a position where everybody expects an increase every single quarter.

Sponge has been having a tasty dish of crow for most of the past 2 weeks ever since the story came out in Wall Street Journal. The biggest hint was from none other than Jim "The One Word to Rule Them All" Dalrymple. Perhaps our local Georgia Bulldog was watching reruns of the Space Jump. Welcome to the new week.

It was announced on friday by several news organizations that apple would introduce the mini on the 23rd. Its been pretty much known for a few weeks that the mini would be announced in october. Found an article for you dated october 12 www.cnbc.com/id/49395629

I have a hunch - just a hunch, that much of WS and "Main Street" still don't believe an iPad mini is on the way. AND those that do - like MB IIRC - haven't necessarily heard the latest rumor news yet. Well, just wait til Wednesday or so.

That article I posted and several others from many other sources are saying for a fact that apple will hold a meeting on the 23rd. They arnt saying the word rumored like they did when they thought apple would make an announcement on the 10th.
This is just a hunch but I do think because of the news of the ipad mini and upcoming earnings and the holiday quarter that apple will see 700 by years end.
Yes it has been rough being a shareholder lately but there is no way im selling a single share at these prices.

Sponge has been having a tasty dish of crow for most of the past 2 weeks ever since the story came out in Wall Street Journal. Actually, several of the Braeburn Braintrust™ had substituted their WAG's analysis in place of actual deep background reporting from reliable sources.
