PED is conceding that the "epicenter of change" is not an Apple TV but an App icon. Expectations are low for a surprise at this WWDC, which is fine by me. June earnings have a much better chance to be a catalyst next month. Until then, AAPL probably follows the market. fortune.com/2015/06/07/apple-wwdc-live/

Well, iOS app icon (squircle) plus Watch app icon (circle). That's the first-level read and a highly safe one.

What's curious is Apple chose Brian Chen of the NYT to dispel the rumored Apple TV. Why not Apple-friendly John P. or anyone but the NYT? Further, for all the detail Mark Gurman revealed on Friday, Mark can't confirm the Apple TV no-show with his own sources? Instead, he is relying on the NYT, later parroted by ReCode per the interview Gurman gave Gruber Friday.

for all the detail Mark Gurman revealed on Friday, Mark can't confirm the Apple TV no-show with his own sources? Instead, he is relying on the NYT, later parroted by ReCode per the interview Gurman gave Gruber Friday. Interesting to read Gurman's stuff. While Apple compartmentalizes a lot of fresh hardware, in the past at least it doesn't do that as much for software (especially OS's), partly because it needs to be touched by a lot of people to make sure it's in good shape. As for "wow features", long before iOS Apple had years where the OS upgrade was to focus on "spit and polish" rather than performance or features. It happens. And that doesn't mean that there aren't any new features....just that the focus is maybe on making things look better, take up less space, be more intuitive, work together better, or whatever. Similar to the major FPS developers, where maybe one time they would focus on the main core, and then another time (with more hardware out there to support it) they could work on utilizing some of that with fancy graphics and effects like mirroring or fog or whatnot. Of course the crazy thing is that with Apple right now, all it would take is one announcement, or one mention of specific great numbers, to make everything great. And few people would actually know those numbers....and we'll assume that the folks that know those numbers no longer share their printers with others and just leave those numbers sitting unguarded on the printer for others to see when they go and pick up a print job. Assuming that sort of thing isn't happening, it would be really tough for Gurman to hear that sort of thing, just like we don't hear quarterly earnings announced before they are official. Either those in the know, know that the consequences are big. Or that information only moves to people that are quite and make it well worth it. Let's assume it's the former. Likewise, I'll assume he doesn't hear things like unannounced Apple Watch numbers.

Since it's the weekend, if a bit late into it... Well chinacat, it is late, the time for jingles in the midnight sun, but I can tell you that I pretty much followed your same path until I discovered the virtually infinite Dead channel on sirius radio which I can get in the car and also streaming on wifi (for an added price I gladly pay) and that has pretty much taken over. Not sure apple can match it but we'll soon find out..
