The new Apple Campus 2 is still on track to be completed by the end of 2016. In fact, according to remarks by Tim Cook in the last shareholders meeting, the 2017 Apple Shareholders meeting is scheduled to be held in the new 120,000 square foot auditorium. When I pass by the construction site on Highway 280 or on one of the local streets adjacent to the construction, the 10-foot-high fences that surround the site make it difficult, impossible really, to get a sense of how far along they are with the build. Typically, the only real visibility from the freeway is of the top of the parking garage and the tops of the multiple cranes in operation. From the start of construction, the only way for most of us to see progress was from unofficial footage taken by various individuals with quadcopters. Intially, there wasn’t that much to see but the latest video (taken and edited by Duncan Sinfield) showed a great deal of progress, was extremely well done (in my opinion) and contains footage of Steve Jobs’ presentation to the Cupertino City Council on June 7, 2011. I’m providing a YouTube link to the video as well as a link to the page where I first saw the video. This is the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FqH02gN29o This is a link to where I found the video This is our best look yet at Apple's new spaceship campuswww.techinsider.io/drone-footage-of-apples-campus-2-2015-9I hope we can continue to use this thread to relay interesting info/pictures/video regarding the new campus to members of this board. Cheers to the AAPL Longs!! Update: This is a column from our local public station which, in February 2015, was provided a rare look into the Apple Campus 2 site by Apple. ww2.kqed.org/news/2015/02/11/a-sneak-peek-at-apples-new-cupertino-headquarters

Whenever one drives the section of Highway 280 between Wolfe Rd and Lawrence Expressway in the Santa Clara Valley the Apple Campus 2 construction site is hard to miss because of the presence of 8-10 very large cranes that can be seen from the roadway. But it's not until you venture onto the surface streets adjacent to the site that you can really get a good idea of how enormous this project is. I'm posting a couple of maps and a photo to help show the close proximity of the construction site to Apple Headquarters. This map shows an overview that includes both the present Apple Headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA (left side) and the construction site of Apple Campus 2 (right side) which is about a mile east of the headquarters. The red pin marks the T-intersection of Pruneridge Ave and Tantau Ave which is the main entrance to the site. This map show a closer view of the Apple Campus 2 construction site and once again, the red pin marks the T-intersection of Pruneridge Ave and Tantau Ave. This photo was taken from near where the red pin shown on the previous two maps is positioned. I'm standing on the sidewalk of Pruneridge Avenue where it dead-ends with N. Tantau Ave. and facing the construction site. You can see the guard location under the faded blue shade just below and slightly left of the red stop light. Just a few years back, when HP owned the property, Pruneridge Ave. continued on, through the area that's now the construction site, until it dead-ended at Wolfe Rd. A couple of things to notice about this photo. The first thing to point out is the Cupertino City Limit sign which lets you know how close to the edge of the Cupertino border the site is located. For such a small city as Cupertino to not only have the present Apple World Headquarters but to have the massive Apple Campus 2 under construction within their boundaries makes them more fortunate than most in the cities lobbying for corporate taxes to add to the city's coffers. ======= Note: Apple occupies around 60 percent of Cupertino’s commercial real estate, while also employing 40 percent of the city’s working population. On top of this, its $9.2 million taxes in 2012 provided Cupertino with 18 percent of its city budget. Since approving Apple’s plans for the Campus 2, Cupertino has attracted a new developer for a previously struggling shopping mall, in addition to two hotel developers. ======= The second thing to notice is the massive pyramid of dirt on the left side of the photo. I can only assume it will be distributed around the site once construction is completed. Just guessing at the height of the green fences surrounding the site I'd have to estimate it at 12-15 feet.

A shot taken from near the top of Tantau Ave. The pyramid of dirt can be seen and the circular headquarters under construction is on the far right of the photo. I think the site could perhaps use a few more cranes. This is the main gate entry into the site, Gate 07 Tantau Ave, shown in the previous post from the sidewalk of Pruneridge Ave. This is a telephoto shot of what little can be seen of the main building from Tantau Ave. Use the two grey porta pottys for scale. :-)

I'm posting this video, even though it's from March 2015, because it identifies some of the Apple Campus 2 structures as it moves overhead and gives one more of an understanding of the layout of Apple Campus 2. The video ends in the Apple World Headquarters (1 Infinity Loop) parking lot. Apple Campus 2 Tour - March 2015 www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wW5dbnm7Og

I came across several Tumblr archives that are dedicated exclusively to the Apple Campus 2 construction. This seems to be a good one and is now being updated several times a month with the latest drone shots to show recent progress. A photo series in May of 2015 showed Tim Cook and Jony Ive touring the site. I also marked up a couple of map overviews of the site showing the property several years ago when it was an HP location, side-by-side with a recent shot of the site. I added a few street markings to orient the viewer and as can be seen in the HP map, Pruneridge Ave used to transverse the complex before forming a T intersection with Wolfe Road. In the more recent map, one can see that the apartment complex (The Hamptons) is the sole survivor of the buildings previously located on or adjacent to the HP site. The apartment owners, who built it in 1996, plan to 'renovate' the complex, starting in 2017, and increase the number of units from 342 units to 942 units while also installing various upgrades to the site. One can only guess how the price for rentals will skyrocket because of their proximity to the Apple Campus 2 site. While AAPL continues to be held down to a ridiculously low level, I'll continue to look to the present and future product/activities of Apple Inc. and, IMO, this new Apple World Headquarters will be both an amazingly innovative corporate campus and a reflection of Apple's product innovation over the years.

Apple is about to finish the mile-long ring for its $5 billion 'spaceship' campusBusiness Insider By Alexei Oreskovic 2 hours ago Apple is making a lot of progress on the construction of its massive, $5 billion "spaceship" headquarters in Cupertino, California. The latest drone video shot by Matthew Roberts and posted on YouTube provides a fun birds-eye-view of how the new building and other parts of the campus are coming together. When Apple's Campus 2 is finished next year, it will house more than 13,000 employees over 18 acres, and it will include a massive fitness center as well as an underground auditorium. Among the latest highlights: The final section of the circular spaceship building is being framed. That means the more-than-1-mile-long ring that will be the exterior of the spaceship is almost complete. A maze of tunnels are being laid down throughout the campus. The underground auditorium looks practically finished. The giant dirt pyramid is still very big. Check out the video for yourself: youtu.be/VUs_YrLvA0k

Drone footage shows progress at Apple’s new HQ By JENNIFER BOOTON Apple Inc.’s new spaceship-like headquarters in Cupertino, California is starting to come together, according to the latest drone footage taken from the construction site. Drone photographer Duncan Sinfield shot Apple’s AAPL, -0.41% Campus 2 this week and posted the footage to YouTube. The footage shows the finishing touches on the fitness center, nearly-finished parking structures and progress under way at Apple’s new R&D facility. The glass-panel facade on the main building is about half installed, while the carbon-fiber roof is being prepped for solar panels. The curved windows are the largest of their kind in the world, with 900 of the 3,000 windows over 46-feet long, according to Mashable. The underground auditorium, which will seat around 1,000 people and be used for future product launches, has also been covered, according to the footage. Drone photographers have been tracking the progress of Apple’s Campus 2 for well over a year, posting monthly updates of progress and close-up aerial shots. Last month, a different photographer posted a progress video. The iPhone maker’s new campus is located one mile away from Apple’s current headquarters, and is expected to be completed in 2017.

New drone videos. Drone pilots and aerial photographers Duncan Sinfield and Matthew Roberts posted their new flyover videos of Apple's $5 billion campus project on Friday.
The campus is still unfinished. Although nearly all the structural work is done and many of the buildings now have windows, there's still a lot of landscaping that needs to be done before employees move in early next year.
Apple has a giant pyramid of dirt it's going to distribute to other parts of the campus.
I wanted to highlight one thing that that dirt is going to cover — a massive, 120,000-square-foot auditorium. It will be buried like an Egyptian tomb. The rotunda will not be covered, as it's the auditorium's entrance.
That's right, the iPhone 8 will probably be announced in an underground lair buried beneath Apple's campus.
It's not buried yet, so you can see just how big the auditorium is. But it will be covered with dirt soon. This is the giant auditorium that Apple is about to cover with dirt
