Got that right in more ways than I care to remember.
I'll be upgrading my coffee from now on. I might even pick up a spare iMac in the coming weeks.

According to IBT, Apple ordered 9.1 Million iPad Mini displays from September to December. What are your thoughts on this number? Regarding a slightly different question, what will the iPad product ratio be for Q1?
LG Sept 300,000 Oct 1,000,000 Nov 2,500,000 Dec 3,000,000
AU Optronics Sept 100,000 Oct 400,000 Nov 800,000 Dec 1,000,000

So, who is preordering an iPad mini today or sometime this weekend? I bought one and two other people in my office ordered this morning. Lots of interest in the device. One owns an Ipad third generation, the other an Ipad2.

Time for one of my favorite quotes to get the juices flowing... __________________________________________ Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Time for a little compare and contrast, with the April/May event:
April/May: Went from 644 to 522, a total drop of 122, or 18.9%. We got within 40 points or so of the 200-day MA. This went on for six (6) weeks of red candles.
PE= 15.7 (@644) and 12.7 (@522)
Sept/October: Went from 705 to 591 (for a cup of coffee), a drop so far of 114, or 16.2%. We got within about 6 points of the 200-day MA. [To match the April/May % drop, we would need a 133 point drop, which means down to 572, but I don't think I can take a drop like that below the "strong support" of the 200 MA, at around 585 currently.] Today is the end of the sixth week of red candles.
PE = 16.57 (@705) and 13.9 (@591); 572 would give PE = 12.95, coming real close to the April/May low.

I ordered a mini this morning. It will probably replace my wife's iPad 2. If she decides the lighter, smaller iPad isn't for her after all , I will give her my third gen and buy the fourth gen iPad. I think I've done my part by buying two iPads, an iPhone 5, and a 15" MacBook Pro Retina this year.
I used to have a deal with AAPL where I would use some of the profits to buy the newest devices. Now I have to hope it will work in reverse and AAPL will reward me for supporting the company by buying all the great new toys!

congrats to all the new mini buyers! I am tempted, but will wait until they put a retina display on it in a future generation...hopefully sooner rather than later. So far this year I've replaced my iPad2 with a 3, and got an iPhone 5. My Airport Express showed up yesterday. Great improvement. new iMac as soon as they are available.
Hope someone will post about the screen quality on the mini compared to the iPad 3...or iPad 4 if you have all or both. We are sooooo bad.

That makes five red weeks in a row. In 2008 there were seven red weeks in a row, in 2006 there were six. I can't find any other examples greater than or equal to five within the last 10 years.

Still wondering if the line in the sand is the 200 MA or the 50 EMA. This coming week I believe many mutual funds close their books on Halloween and perhaps new money is put to work on Nov. 1st. We will see what the week brings but my fingers are crossed for treats instead of tricks for sure!

I'm not concerned about the display - I was using my brothers iPad in the weekend, and I was surprised that I, as an ipad 3 owner, didn't even realise I was using the lower resolution iPad 2 until I tried to enable Siri on it. I think the iPad 2 resolution on a smaller device will be sufficient (not awesome, but nice enough).

JMO, but it would be nice to get rid of that pesky gap at $585 wouldn't it? FWIW, I ordered a 4G ipad mini this morning. Have had less luck with getting an ip5 for next day pick up. Of the ~8 nights I've tried, I only saw stock one night and that lasted about 1 minute. You have to be VERY fast to get the order placed. This 3+ week ship delay is really giving me the willies about this quarter. TC said it's getting better but I haven't seen a change in 'ship by delay' so far. Still 3+ weeks. cheers to the longs JohnG

While I realize the white iPad mini's are much more popular than the black ones, I find it strange that the white ones sold out after only 20 minutes last night (i.e. went to two week delay) while the black ones tonight are still shipping on Nov. 2nd. Oh well, just another unsolved mystery . . . store.apple.com/us/buy/home/shop_ipad/family/ipad_mini

Hey, you guys are snapping up all the mini's! Leave some for other folks I generally have to hold the object before I buy it - when will they be on display at the stores? There is already a zagg keyboard cover for the mini: now there is a portable for you... kinda... netbook size.... hmmmmm

was ready to PREorder but only have a PO box currently. Going to store friday in hopes of gettting one. Debating between 32GB or 64GB (WIFI only)...thinking 32 and hopefully white if they are still available. Undecided on cover and keyboard Anyone ever tether/personal hot spot their iphone to IPAD? Will be my first IPAD
As far as stock goes, im afraid there will be a sell off either into election or right after...or both...but everyone wanting to get on board before holiday quarter, plus pensions/mutual long term outlooks wanting this stock around 600 with a possible increase in dividend down the line, we may start a "christmas rally" early..i hope/pray... could get the momentum starting with exceptional 1st weekend pre orders in ipad mini...anyone have any ball park expectation ranges for this pre order weekend? Doubtful whatever it is will be a "let down" like the IP5 first weekend was...

OT from Apple:
I've been glued to my computer crunching data and ready tons of forums on apple so my brain is fried.
How about something different. What is everyone's take on shorting something related to this storm.
Public Utilities in the northeast? Is it wrong to try and profit off something like this and would the utilities go down due to power being knocked out? I've never traded based on a weather event.

I think you need a break and some sleep. Short the utilities while their linemen are working in hazardous conditions for the greater good? Not everything is about $.

Bought the mini in black yesterday just to have one in our kitchen. I have iPad 3 in white but that stays bedside and I don't share it with anyone! I also threw in an APPL TV... Of they start streaming more events on it, I would live to have it available. The bigger point is that now that I bought it and spent the money, everyone can be assured that they will now come out with an iTV shortly - so there, I took one for the Board!

Still wondering if the line in the sand is the 200 MA or the 50 EMA. That's what I've been thinking, but in all honesty, even they don't have to be the bottom. There's no hard and fast rule, just patterns that tend to repeat. As to those two lines, they usually sit pretty close together, price-wise, but the extended run AAPL has been on has pulled them 25 bucks apart. That's why I am in a quandary over which is the one to focus on. Perhaps we'll get a capitulation and both lines get hit on the same day. Who knows? Whatever happens, this run will likely end with a proper capitulation where we see several million shares get traded in under 5 minutes then bounce back strongly. That's how AAPL usually ends its lengthier trends.

is anyone else worried about those round numbers popping up? XXX.00? we had that in the spring, at a time of high pain, too. It could be random,but three in a day? High, low, and close? This would be a super-easy way to orchestrate co-ordination amongst investors...

I'm not sure I understand what you might be suggesting? Please elaborate - thanks

Best not to even pay attention to Amazon. Investors are figuring that they will undercut everyone, take over retail, and then gradually raise prices. As long as Walmart, Target, etc. are still around, I don't see that happening.

I flew to New Orleans on Thursday for an interview. I have never seen so many iPads and iPhones. Both on the streets in NO and at the airport. I didn't see a single tablet that wasn't an iPad. The ratio of iPhones to non-iPhones had to be at least 15 to 1. Not kidding. I saw a huge number of 3GS and 4, which should mean a lot of upgrades are coming.
The future is strong. Don't let a few quarters cloud that.
