Not that part, the capitulating 10-15 points lower. If we are already down, why would going 15 points lower be capitulating? It's not capitulation per se unless there's heavy volume. And no heavy volume today. Who is left to capitulate? The small guys are forced to stay in right unless they are on margin?

HOLD ON, PEOPLE!!!! IMHO, NOT MUCH LONGER!!!! I love it when you yell. That's not even me being sarcastic. I agree with you. I'm getting antsy here. I'm making a move before the day ends.

lemmings will build calls... Shouldn't that be: iLemmings? Seriously, I hope weekly call buyers lose everything. I am so sick of this shit and people never learning their lesson.

carnage in the quote boxes [quote author=rosie board=intradayupdates thread=146 post=10808 at some point today the big brown truck will roll up the driveway to deliver a small package that went from China to Japan to Alaska....then back East then back West to Seattle then south to Portland then North to Chehalis to eventually get to me . Where am I? 14 miles as the crow flies from Mt. St. Helens; and south of Chehalis, WA. Eh, it may not be pretty, but I am sure it is the cheapest way to get it there. errrm

I was hoping you'd be right about that, but LOD is now $586.76 Btw, there's no shortage of articles about how disappointing the line lengths are, despite the long NYC and Japan lines. Could be playing into ugly action today. All the articles fail to mention the shift to online preorders. Plus, the comparisons to iPhone lines need to stop. The iPad mini is NOT the craze driven iPhone and never will be. Yes, Jon Fortt has been a real jackass today (I was following him on Twitter, not anymore). Anyone reporting on line length as a metric with Apple's shift to online pre-orders deserves to be punched in his nether region.

It's unreal how the urge to sell can take hold in the face of this type of...of...of...I don't even know what to call it....Panic! At the Desko!...good googily moogily....hold on is right...there's not much of a reason to sell at this point...all the blood is out of the turnip...

Is this the bottom? I'm not feeling too good right now. I've got nothing expiring before April and most of it not before June. Just looked at my account, and it's bad, real bad.
On the positive side, I just received the mini. I was going to use it for a week before making my decision to sell my iPad 3. That was an hour ago. My decision is already made. The iPad 3 is for sale. I absolutely love the mini. The only thing I miss is the retina but for me the trade off for the mobility/weight is worth it. Apple is going to sell a ton of these. Even my wife who never wanted an iPad before said "did you order mine yet?" ...

Final flush. Close your eyes! Unplug! Whatever you do, do NOT sell! If this is indeed the final flush, I would be so relieved no matter the short term pain... How low do you think it will go (when is it time to buy)?

Pulled the trigger on my stocks to LEAPS trade. What if a lot of the selling is for this kind of trade, or could it not possibly amount to noticeable volume?

Isn't it strange that in this "final flush" VOLUME is SO LOW? UGH, I can't take this anymore

We're bottoming today. That's my WAG, and I'm sticking to it.
Low volume = sellers' exhaustion + buyers' absence

The only thing I have are Jan 14 700 Calls. My account looks terrible. I would be embarrassed to show it to somebody. Still, I am weirdly calm about it. The price action has been ridiculous the past two weeks, but i've kind of been unphased. I just don't see how the fundamentals could be ignored much longer. Hopefully that's not stupid.

It felt much worse for me back in 2008-2009 when it dropped from $200 to 80 in a pretty short time.
I think we could potentially drop alot further this time. To me it's not justified and (probably) manipulation by MM's and HFT (high frequency trading).
You will probably be OK if you hold on. They want you to sell now. They want people to buy high and sell low, and too often as panic or excitement set in people do that. I myself am guilty of it.
Nothing fundamental has changed about Apple, they have the best line up of products ever this quarter and they will do fine. The FUD out there is getting pretty strong but I think it could get stronger yet, but personally I believe it IS only FUD.
I see Apple back at the $700/share ahead of next earnings. At least historically if I look at the dips that have happened Apple has always bounced back. Let's hope history repeats itself again. (as the stock continues to fall as I write this...sigh).

Well....I can completely relate...I quit checking my account last week...looked like a 10 yr old opened up on my monitor with a red paintball handgun.....it's set...it is what it is...earliest expirations are April '13....so now we sit back and wait for sanity to return...

It wasn't the sudden 10 buck drop and 5M shares changing hands in 5 mins, but we've done the same in about 90 minutes. Combine that with the daily 200 EMA getting hit and I think it's safe to say that we are due for some upside now.

Who is left to capitulate? The small guys are forced to stay in right unless they are on margin? Margin isn't the only thing that forces a hand. If they lose conviction, or need the money for something else, they sell too. I remember in 2001 people talking about moving their 401k into cash. The crash had already happened, and they didn't need the money, but they were tired of getting their quarterly statement and seeing their account balance go down even while they continued to contribute. Same idea here, but without the marketwide downturn and recession to go along with it. Timing is great if you can do it, getting out a few weeks ago and buying back in now. But most people aren't that lucky, and the floor has got to be closer now than a few weeks ago. That said, there will still be some jumping out. And that's the capitulation that needs to happen.
