Nice to see a small recovery for AAPL this week, and the local chartists seem to interpret it as auguring a bounce just in time for the holiday season. While the response to Apple's Fall product releases has by no means been as enthusiastic as in the Good Old Days, they certainly look strong enough to support a solid F1Q.
Looking forward to spending Turkey Day with grandson #2, about to be 5 months old, as well as his parents and our co-grandparents. I'm sure that participation here may be somewhat light due to holiday travel, so I will take this opportunity to wish everyone happy and healthy holidays.

McLaren shareholders have rejected bids, not looking to sell "...There was also speculation in September that U.S. technology giant Apple had made an approach to invest in or buy McLaren, according to the Financial Times. "There wasn't a bid from Apple," said Flewitt. "They visited. We talked. We talked about what they did. We talked about what we did. They toured. It never matured to a definitive proposition," he said." uk.mobile.reuters.com/article/idUKKBN13D28N

What is really funny is Jaguar making an electric car My first car after I started working was a used Jaguar XKE. I was stopped once and the trooper said, "Do you know you were going 120 miles per hour?" I said,"That's ridiculous. This is a Jaguar. It won't run for an hour". Anyone who has experienced Lucas electronics understands why he is called "The Prince of Darkness". I am sure all this is sorted out now, but honestly, for those of us with a long memory, an electric Jaguar is right up there with a stone balloon.

I remember a couple of MG's, a Hillman Minks, a Sunbeam Alpine and a few others that I was burdened with in my youth.

The first car I bought when I was still in high school was a used 1962 MGA Mark 2. When they say floor boards they were serious, made out of wood they were. No air conditioning in Alabama was fun. To open the doors you slid the plastic window open reached inside and pulled down on a cable inside the door panel. Fun times.

IIRC, I had a piece of ply wood for a floor board in one of my MG's. and my feet would get wet when driving in the rain. Fun times indeed.

Another fun fact, I paid $400 for the MGA, worked two jobs, busboy @ Bonanza Steak for $1.35/hr. and gas station attendant @ Eddie B Hart's Pure Oil ( gotta love that name) for $0.95/hr. Old World Motors had that MGA and a Jaguar XK120 for sale for $800. My Dad couldn't loan me the extra $400 for the Jag as he was an under paid military man. They had just rebuilt the motor, it was canary yellow, yikes, and had original wire wheels that needed to be chromed. Wonder what it would be worth today?

With the dollar going up so much, and with a goodly percentage of Apple sales from outside the USA, what is the estimated effect on profits?

Hmm...cheap car talk, I wonder what that portends?
My first car: 1974 Fiat Spider. Fiat stood for, "Fix it again, Tony!"
Body by Pininfarina. Engine by elderly hamster on wheel.

Those things we blast to drive though. Almost no difference between 4th and 5th gear that I recall. But on a winding back road they we great.
