Watching NFL football this afternoon and I swear that the iPad mini commercial is on at every commercial break.

He's a consultant. He's not necessarily locked in some office with a PPC Mac with OS 9.2 on it until his time is up.
It's likely that he isn't doing all that much to help the company right now, but it's not out of the question either. He wasn't booted out like Browett.
Also, iOS 7 needs more than a better Siri and working Maps. Something more than just a Snow Leopard, because iOS was baggage-free to begin with. iOS 5 and 6 are more incremental than pushing the envelope. If Forstall was a positive and disruptive change agent, I haven't been seeing it lately.

New York football today feels like Hurricane Sandy just rolled over our teams - awful, awful, awful. But at least Notre Dame played great yesterday

Apple better get these iMac's and iPad cellular models out soon before Black Friday to cash in the consumer overspending holiday.

Forstall had ambitions that were well known, I often wondered if the maps fiasco was not intentional to undercut TC or make him look bad. Either way, be wary of the employee who would tear the company apart to get ahead. I am certain that Forstall thought he was untouchable, guess what, he was not. regardless, that type of management style should never be condoned. It is why I left the workforce. No tolerance for that kind of manager. Had many like that, in my last working years I put a stop to it in a hurry. You can boss me at work, but we won't always be at work now will we.

Why not just buy VirnetX for $1.8B? Apple is already into them for almost $.4B with the promise of more to come.

My daughter is pretty knowledgable about Apple products, and we had a chance to talk in the car on the way to Rutgers game yesterday versus Army. [ And, by the way, a shout-out to all veterans on this board to thank you for your service on today, Veteran's Day.] But she said that Apple maps was actually a better product than Google Maps - at least here in NJ - because of all the great features it provides. Sure, some areas of the country have problems, but I think these are trivial compared to the virus issues in Android software, which don't even get a mention. On another note, Forstall is not going to win a fight against Jony Ivie or Bob Mansfield in the Apple management structure, no matter how damned talented he is. So we'll see how deep the Apple bench is in the IOS area. But when you see some of his underlings cheering when hearing of his demise (as some outlets reported), then all was not well in Cupertino. And besides, more Eddie Cue and Jony Ivie on the software side is not a bad thing, so I think we're going to be okay on this front.

Yes - the unfortunate thing missed in the iOS Maps launch was all its great features it introduced were overshadowed by the wrong location data fiasco. Turn-by-turn directions? huge new feature. Vector based design? huge new feature which vastly reduces the amount of data downloaded & allows for way smoother zooming in & out. RE: Forstall. I'm not sayignn I know anything about the situation, but it was also said that Steve Jobs was hated by most peoiple who worked underneath him - he drove many people out of the company by his management style. In his first reign at apple, Jobs was fired for the same reason: virtually no one inside the company wanted to work with him anymore.

(Don't worry burgess, not going after you personally one bit here.)
Steve Jobs was so hated,
Ive, Mansfield, Cook, Cue, Schiller and Forstall were 150% loyal to him and all put in more than 10 years.
Oh wait.
Point One: There's NO evidence that the innovation machine is slowing at Apple. (Plans are just plans...at some point you have to give the current team credit for what they're doing right.)
Point Two: No one knows how a $150B innovation-focused company is supposed to run, not even Apple. Basically because this kind of business model has never been tried before on such a enormous scale. Who says you can't innovate without a Steve Jobs? I'm sure a number of innovative companies would beg to differ. Apple could fail someday, but they could also be like IBM. Leadership changes don't always spell the end of legendary companies with one-of-a-kind leaders and/or founders. Look at Disney.

The main point of iPad mini ads, IMHO? Hey look! It's a new iPad! Smaller! A mini! As long as they're not the Apple Genius kind of polarizing (and I don't think they are), I think these new two ads should do just fine in getting the message across. www.apple.com/ipad/videos/#tv-ads-photos

Even Hitler had his chronies! /Sarcasm I have no worries at all about Apple - which is why most of my retirement savings are invested in just one company IMO Jobs ensured apples disruptive nature will live on when he setup the internal apple university for employees, solely to teach them how apple did what it did, does what it does, and will do what it will do.

Let's get through next week. I'm no expert by any means, but this next week looks HUGE for AAPL short-term.
We need something to make the bears second-guess themselves, and/or the bulls to think the worst is over, something like that. Friday won't be enough. An up Monday, breaking the month-long streak of AAPL not being able to string two consecutive up days together, might help.

iPad mini availability....
I've been checking nightly on mini availability online with stores located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pretty much all models are sold out daily and unavailable for in store pickup. The only ones left are the 64gb in black and for some reason always in stock at the Oakridge store. White is always sold out in all capacities. It's actually not hard to find one if you are able to splurge on the 64gb. As for white and black 16gb.. Fuggedaboutit.

Btw iPad, this week can be a _fight_ for the SMA-50 weekly, right? So if AAPL did something like 550 Mon / 545 Tue / 565 Wed / 555 Thu / 560 Fri, it's the Friday close that matters above all else? (As in Thursday "isn't a big deal" because AAPL did reclaim the SMA-50 on Friday.)
'Course, I'd prefer AAPL power through the SMA-50 and give bulls the momentum.

Need to get above and stay above...once above, we CANNOT come back down, or it's the same damn pattern of continually losing key moving averages and inability to reclaim them. BTW, QE3 starts this week... Let's see if history can repeat in THAT regard...

Hm...good to know. So one needs to bring an intraday mindset to a weekly target level.
Not so optimistic on the upside power of QE3.

Let's say 522/516ish does turn out to be a magnet.
Doomâ„¢? Or is it not over until AAPL attempts to claw back to the SMA-50 weekly?

Nov 12 (Reuters) - Shares of HTC Corp jumped by their permitted daily limit on Monday after the Taiwanese smartphone maker and Apple Inc announced a global patent settlement and 10-year licensing agreement.
The shares were up 6.86 percent at T$241.50 in broader market that opened up 0.15 percent.
HTC and Apple's settlement and licensing agreement on Saturday ended one of the first major conflagrations of the smartphone patent wars.
The California giant sued HTC in 2010, its first major legal salvo against a manufacturer that used Google's Android operating system.

I'm having a debate with myself regarding how Apple will trade over the next three months.
The positives: Availability on iPhone and iPad Mini is getting better. Demand for all products remains off the charts (but not sure about new iPod) 3M iPad sales was a great number.
The negatives: The market is scared about the fiscal cliff. The debt limit also needs to be extended. Our leaders don't have a solid track record for resolving these issues. People might continue to sell stock for tax reasons.
I want to invest the rest of my dry powder. The trick is when to pull the trigger.
