Greatest weekly gain since October 14 and highest weekly close since October 21. Conflicting reports about holiday quarter sales, as typified by recent Watch FUD stories rebutted by Tim Cook, will likely keep us all guessing. MacBook Pro sales seem to be falling into the same category. The outlook for next quarter is similarly murky, what with a relatively early date for Chinese New Year and the uncertainty about what actions the new administration may take towards China.
Never a dull moment for AAPL investors.

The gain is +4
It remains to be seen if we keep climbing next week and by how much. Filling the gap from ER would seem like a reasonable target. With high OI at 115, we will most likely gravitate towards that number by Friday.
Just returned from Dubai. The Apple Store there is impressive. Saw lots of billboard ads for the iPhone 7.

No numbered days of Apple on the weekend. Time to get yourself caught up.

Here are a few items about the Mac from Horace Dediu:
>The product is in its 32nd year of market presence. A longevity that is unmatched by any other PC maker.
>Apple reached a top five position in the ranking of PC vendors. This was achieved for the first time only this year, far along in the evolution of the market.
>With about $23 billion in revenues per year, Apple places among the top four PC vendors in terms of revenue.
>With an estimated $5.5 billion in operating margin Apple is the most profitable PC vendor, capturing over 60% of the available PC hardware profits.
>The product has retained an average selling price of over $1200 for at least a decade. At the same time the average pricing of Personal Computers has more than halved.
>Although volumes have fallen for three quarters, the product grew volumes and sales for 22 out of 29 quarters. As a result, volumes almost doubled in eight years.
You can find more verbiage and a couple of interesting graphs at asymco.com.

I'm standing outside an Apple Store in a mall. There is not a holiday window display this year. They used to put up really great led lighting displays in the window. Hmmmm.
The Apple Watch table seems to be busy, though.

As I gleefully predicted, ESPN is melting down. Money quote: I hate ESPN for various reasons, lots of schadenfreude here. If Disney did spin it off, what company could use its foreign tax repatriation billions to buy the discounted Disney? Hmm...

Sure would be interesting to see Apple's 5 year road map with regards to use of offshore cash if it's repatriated. It's at least in part as situations present themselves I would guess. Two great companies, Apple and Disney, put together has been speculated for years and why not? Acquire an iconic brand and growth as opposed to say a Netflix. Would like to see it happen myself.

That is sad! People all over the world are struggling for survival and she's complaining about not having her favorite junk food for Christmas.
