Ahhhh, 2017; should be a very interesting year for our favorite fruit company. It is hard to imagine that as the year progresses there won't be a sh*tstorm of FUD concerning the 10th anniversary iPhone. Meanwhile, you may enjoy this story about a recent test of the original iPhone.

For those here who subscribe to the Chicken Little theory of Apple's future, you will find a full menu of items to cite in Why Apple's Critics Are Right This Time. JD, you will note it includes "Apple's top brass had their compensation cut after the company missed its revenue and profit goals for 2016." A main focus of the article is enthusiasm for the future of voice-controlled devices. Although I have long enjoyed the ability to dictate messages rather than thumb-typing on my iPhone, I just don't see voice becoming the primary manner of device control, particularly in public. I know that many, and perhaps a majority, disagree with me. Apple's secrecy is definitely a double-edged sword. Most pundits and many customers prefer companies who regularly communicate their intentions. One of the burdens of being an Apple enthusiast is the need to keep the faith between significant product events. There is no question that this weighs most heavily on investors, as the market seems quite willing to move stock prices based on hints and promises from technology companies. NB: I was able to read the entire article on my iPad, but it seems that the pay wall is enforced on my Mac. Apologies for not noticing earlier.

I need some more "scares" for Apple this year .. haven't nearly loaded up on my 2019 option (mostly spreads) positions. A brief "scary" drop would be perfect sometime early/mid this year. Maybe Trump will say something nasty about Apple to cause it? Or maybe just the usual FUD? Whatever.
