APC.F (Apple Frankfort exchange) up 0.92%.
Hope AAPL follows this trend.

Lower highs and lower lows so far today, AAPL needs to break this pattern.

Like last time, there are only 30 companies in the Dow. If AAPL is the 25th most shorted stock that seems to be a good thing to me. This is a very deceptive headline.

I did a rough estimate and it looks like Apple has about 20K HB-1 visas issued in the last 8 years. Margins could take a hit if they are forced to start hiring US workers at higher wages. I know US computer engineers who are looking for work. I think SJ was less then truthful when he told Obama that they can't manufacture here because US does not have enough engineers. It will be interesting to see how this battle plays out in the next 8 years.

BeatsX = MEH. After AirPods, can't go back to anything wired without cringing. Game changer. Snow shoveling again this morning, AirPods + Apple Watch = flawless victory.

It will be interesting to see how this battle plays out in the next 8 years. Are you assuming a two-term Trump?

... I think SJ was less then truthful when he told Obama that they can't manufacture here because US does not have enough engineers... I think he is referring to hiring manufacturing engineers of the order of 1,000 in a short time. You are thinking of a couple to 100 right? Do these 100 engineers want to go to China? Or are you suggesting we get the other 900 Chinese engineers into USA through H1Bs?

...I don't think software engineers is the issue, manufacturing engineers yes we may have a problem. Sponge's post is confusing. First part talks about software engineers (H1Bs) and second part talks about manufacturing engineers. Not many experienced American manufacturing engineers now, and not many Americans enroll in such majors... easily verified by calling some US colleges and checking their websites. Also, most of the H1B engineers Apple employed are in the area of MIS that not many American software engineers want to do, Americans are into the glamorous web and app type... the type that companies like Google, Facebook, Snap, etc employed.

Hope you don't mind, but your name came up in the Braeburn group regarding your 2013 mortgage for investing in AAPL. I quoted one of your posts shortly after your investment explaining how it was going.
I should have asked first, but I am old an getting senile.

This sheds a little light. A study in 2013 showed there are 12 local applicants for the every position that is filled by HB-1 visa. fortune.com/2013/08/05/the-myth-of-americas-missing-software-engineers/

According to BLS there are 278K mechanical engineers employed in US. Manufacturing engineers is a catch all phrase. There is no real degree in this. I know software engineers and IT graduates that work as manufacturing engineers for Amazon and Google.

AFAIK, not many want to work in factories... that's what I meant. Software engineers also called manufacturing engineers? Messing me up.

Up $3.11 for the week, not bad considering the week before was up over $7 and I kind of felt there might be a pullback.
Forgot to add AAPL didn't follow APC.F which is up 0.72% today.
