WHy does AAPL overplay every move now? Has the beta changed on the stock. A 2% day is normal now

If 522 comes and we don't hold it, I'm exiting a good chunk of my commons with the plan to spread that cash out in LEAPs from now until after earnings. I like this; however, at this point, IMHO, just wait for confirmation of a reversal. You don't need the absolute bottom. Less stress to enter in the direction of the trend, so you get in and start seeing green versus red. and what would it take to confirm a reversal?

I love watching...going down in flames (Zaky). Not loving the drop though, obviously. Tuffet, you can't have it both ways. I for one have been pulling for AZ to be right. I agree, Mark. He has been a loyal cheerleader for AAPL. I'll take a little arrogance.

I'm beginning to think there might be something to this "take the company private" thing... I wouldn't have said that $100 per share ago, but now it's getting more and more practically plausible...

Any thoughts on the new sets of weeklies put out there for the next 4 weeks? Insane, I have no idea how to wrap my head around all of these. Was there really a demand for these?

Lots of folks seem to think no earlier than Monday.

I will delete posts that contain name-calling, and if you unnecessarily complicate my life, I will delete you. (Okay, I have only done the latter ONE time, but I CAN...!!)

I feel for the guy. He has put his neck out there and the market has made him pay dearly. The market is irrational. AZ is trying to make sense of something that can't be rationalized. No sooner did he call the bottom it dropped another couple of bucks just to spite him. +1 Wall Street isn't going to let Andy Zaky call a bottom on AAPL. He should know this. He's not a member of the club, after all. I frankly would prefer he not call any more bottoms, as Wall Street keeps proving him wrong.

I was wrong the other day. I can set up spreads in my RRSP account. Just traded my first ever BCS. A few JAN 14 700/800 at $12. Good test and use of my divvy payment

The best recommendation he made was to get out at 700, but he got back in on a head fake at 660ish. He also got out at 580 and 560, but then got back in (@ 25%) when we had that slight pop on Friday.

Something clicked yesterday when the share price and VXAPL were both declining (they generally seemed to move contrary to each other) and option prices were getting decimated. I FINALLY saw the value of the hedge. I know... I'm a little slow on the uptake. I get it now. Better late than never.

iPad - how do we spot the reversal? More than one day green? Certain % green? If that question was possible to answer, those that knew it would have the ability to print money. The answer does not exist.

i won't claim to understand the reason(s) for this drop from $705 ... but unless i see some clear signals that the end-game has started, i'm hangin in there with my shares
last year Apple guided to $37B and beat by $9B for FQ1 ... this year they've guided to $52B and i think it's fairly safe to say they'll beat again ... being conservative let's say they report in the mid to high $50's ... that's a heck of a number for 1 quarter
i know the past 2 reports have been a little light and that might be contributing to current sale price ... i've read the explanation about OI&E and it makes sense for FQ4
so unless there's something happening right now with Apple's business that's having a huge negative impact, i'm viewing the current situation as something to ride through ... sadly, i'm not seeing a bottom just yet but hoping it's not too far off

All this random bottom calling -- ok here goes -- I call the bottom on Friday, November 16th at 2:00 pm -- How's that?! I have just about as much of a chance as anyone else.

The answer does not exist. Never any certainty, but some ways to mitigate the risk: 1) WAIT for price to reclaim the daily SMA-200. 2) WAIT for price to reclaim the weekly SMA-50. 3) WAIT for an upward break of the downtrend line (see technicals threads)

Here is the biggest issue - we are trying to make sane conclusions out of insane actions....and we keep failing. Why are we shocked?

I dipped my toe into these new waters. I think this is going to have a dramatic effect on how AAPL trades, much like the initial introduction of weeklies did.

Here is the biggest issue - we are trying to make sane conclusions out of insane actions....and we keep failing. Why are we shocked? It's not insane though. I'll say this again. 1. Typical quarterly profit-taking sell-off begins when we hit 700. 2. A month later we have blah earnings with poor Q1 guidance. 3. A week and a half later we get an unfavorable election result and new Germany worries on the same day. 4. Now, post-election, all we hear about every day is the uncertainty surrounding the fiscal cliff. Solve the fiscal cliff, keep Europe stable and deliver a badass Q1 performance followed by strong Q2 guidance, and we will recovery QUICKLY. That's a lot to ask though. Just be patient.
