AAPL needs a rest after this power move...we'll see if there's commitment to 525 by end of day.

(...) On an unrelated note, WTF is up with this forum? No matter what page I click on, the board decides to take me to whatever page it feels like. It's like some temperamental woman. I'm temperamental, but I didn't do it!!!

Don't be shocked to see red by end of the day. Also everyone should be aware that we could see 510-515 in the next few weeks. But we are out of the woods and now get ready for big up and down moves from here for a while. Why do you say this? Please elaborate. Thanks I wouldn't take it too seriously. Spongie has Tourette syndrome when it comes to predicting stock movement. It's part of his charm...

Can you IMAGINE if AAPL came out and said ANYTHING even remotely positive today? Speaking of which? Is AAPL corporate headquarters closed next week and does that mean there will be radio silence from them next week regardless of anything? That is my worry. However, TC and mgmt team will be on call. Only positive spin in that since most day to day staff will be off. TC and PO will have cleared calenders to speak to the BOD on "big picture" issues.

I'm not saying we do. I'm clueless about this crazy _200_ point selloff (almost).
See LNKD this week. That looks like capitulation. AAPL not holding 525 in a few weeks IMHO invalidates today as a capitulation day.

But we are out of the woods and now get ready for big up and down moves from here for a while. This is such BS. Just talking for the sake of talking. You make sure you cover every base so in your mind you are right no matter the outcome. We have had 8 fucking weeks of down, who would be shocked if we closed red today? Nobody! Out of the woods, yeah, advice like that is worth the price paid for it. I doubt anyone here feels like we are "out of the woods"

AAPL came very close to hitting the daily lower Bollinger. That's why we now have a bounce. If you say so. I've been talking about that line for several days now. FWIW, I covered my short from 553 at 506.

25.3MM shares traded as of 12:14PM. This could be a 35-40MM share day, which are usually reserved for the day after earnings, or the two days last week when shareholders wanted to lock in their long-term capital gains for 2012. 29.1MM shares traded as of 12:38 PM. An additional 3.8 MM in 24 minutes. Might be setting up for >40MM shares. 32.05MM traded as of 1:10PM.

My understanding is that we were suppose to hear from the Pres again but I am not clear that in fact is going to happen given that the (ah hem) leaders came out and made a few comments earlier. Not sure.

One sure sign that we are in approaching a top is that the conversation on this board turns to what exotic car someone is going to buy with their sudden gains. Sooooo......anyone got a car they want to sell?

IMHO: I _could_ buy here but I want to see sustained commitment to AAPL by end of day. 525 lost for the moment.

That's a pretty good indicator that the top is in, or about to be in.

Terranova: "generational buy" That's a little hyperbolic. I define "generational buy" as something that has the possibility of going up 10X or 100X. There is almost zero likelihood that Apple goes up 10X from here to become a $5T company (which would require $250B-500B annual profit, which would require Apple to take over almost the entire personal handheld device segment ). That said, I am still very bullish on the stock. I've owned it for many years and have never sold a single share as I've accumulated them. The only trading I do is with options, and even in that case, I usually buy and hold them for quite a while. Sadly my Jan '13s are suffering mightily and my Jan '13 450/500 BCS is even in danger! Who would have ever thought that such a conservative position could be in danger???

If 510-515 doesn't happen by say next week, it's much harder to say AAPL had a capitulation event today (if that's what it ends up being end of day) Even if that was the bottom, then we'll still see most of it retraced. That 510-515 level could well be where we end the day. The reason being that those lucky enough to bag that move up will not want to let that profit go, having seen previous bounces get erased.

It might be the buy of the year, but not the generation. That's when AAPL hits its monthly lower Bollinger. We've not even hit the monthly middle Bollinger.

So is the general consensus of the technicians as well as others here that 506 - 515 area did not represent a reversal of sorts? (ala Avi)

Lots of alpha and would cushion loses if there were to be macro event that is hard predict. Comments welcome

(ala Avi) I believe that it did represent a reversal, but the question is whether this is the reversal that puts AAPL to a new all time high, or just the high of a week, or month. Even if it is The Big One, then it will still go up in stages with regular retracements. If we pull back to 510, then that's not a failure, that could just be a wave 2 going in.
