To watch Colin Gilles on CNBC talking AAPL down was just unreal. I need to step away from this TV. He is saying that AAPL needs to sell 49 million iPhones this qtr at a minimum because that number is baked in already. What numbers is he looking at?! I need to find a pub - I need a drink - this guy drives me to drink! Colin Giles cured me of watching CNBC, at least during the hours he has a chance to sound dumb. Gilles really is a complete jackass. It really is stark the contrast of professionalism between Bloomberg TV and CNBC.

HOLY F#$%ING $*!@ this is awesome. Really is. Pardon all the French, but this is one of the biggest percentage gains in an outside-earnings context EVER. Call it a special occasion.

We have blown through several layers of resistance, or semi-resistance....562 I thought would hold us back and maybe still will today...but if we close above that we really can look upwards to some nice targets in the days ahead..... Oh boy...

95% of the trades in AAPL are done by machines. You only need to look at Time and Sales to see that is true. and who programs the machines? people with emotion and sentiment. Jon Najarian, one of the few people I respect on CNLSD (and whom I follow on Twitter), has repeatedly said that AAPL is a retail-dominated trade. In related news, more +35 days, please!

Ok, made a couple purchases. April 570-590's @ 8.55. A decent amount but nothing too crazy.
And then some Nov 30 565-575's @ 4.3, as a TV fund. We don't have the room for a crazy 90", but it's a lot easier making a good trade than it would have been waiting in line yesterday at Sam's Club for the 60" LED for $700. I was willing to wait an hour, but people lined up starting at 10am for the 8pm sale....though technically even that is $30/hour double tax free.
BTW, while I didn't make it to the Apple store yesterday, the 6 stores I did make it to were very busy or had been very busy that day. Looks like people are still spending....imagine that!

What is our biggest one-day $ move up? We've gotta be close. This would be our second biggest. April 25th of this year would be bigger at $49.72 aaplinvestors.net/stats/rank/Still super happy.

Wow. Closed right around 566. Up over 7 friggin' percent.
Congrats to the longs, big time!
Since I'm more bull than bear, I'm curious - how DOES a bear react to a day like this?

Agree the 4S i still selling. I saw people in the Apple store buying it. It's unlocked and the iphone5 is not. Also one of my friends lost her phone but saw she could get a free iphone so picked one up. The 4S is still a really good phone and will keep selling. BTW, the Verizon iPhone 5 is unlocked, and will even work on GSM (although not 4G). And of course unlocked iPhones are available from Apple at full price. AFAIK, the 4S actually can't be unlocked via Verizon ATM, except for overseas SIMs. Gotta jailbreak it (unless something changed this week). 4's and 4S's on AT&T can be unlocked at/near end of contract. I gave a friend an Apple Store gift card and she went for 4S due to the smaller size. Currently using my AT&T unlocked 4 on T-Mobile... I will take 566!

The only thing I can see TC saying to Obama that would have any immediate effect would be a push for a cash repatriation tax break, apple could then pay a significant special dividend to shareholders, which together with other large companies doing the same would inject 100s of billions into the economy fast. I'm not a big fan of the special dividend, but that may be the only way for that money to be brought into this country. Neither am I, but it brings up a question. How does a special dividend affect options? If, let's say, there is a special dividend of $50/share, and shares drop by $50 on the ex day, how are options affected - do the prices of calls simply drop and the prices of puts rise due to that purely financial action? (and the people on the wrong end of the trade essentially get screwed)

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CALM DOWN, iPad! CALM DOWN! Quick! Do you see any downside to a super-move like this? Where...uh...four? levels of resistance and an SMA-50 were obliterated like they weren't even there? In a day? This doesn't feel like a bounce...or a snapback...the momentum didn't just shift, the boulder's rolling uphill with rocket boosters attached...
