With earnings coming up in October, I have not seen much speculation on whether Apple will increase their dividend. Given the potential growth in profits and the actual growth in share price, do you think they will increase the dividend to match the original yield?

I think if aapl gets over $800 by end of the year, I expect a dividend increase of 50% in Jan, and then all hell will break lose as we drive thru $1000.

I don't understand how they could have made this mistake. There would have been 2-3 people involved in the final stages of that story: producer, reporter, and editor.

Waiting for a 10% pullback just ahead of earnings and guidance for the December is like playing Russian roulette with an automatic. Yeah, if I snag a 1-2% pullback I'll be happy.

The initial dividend was puny even at the cash flow level Apple realized at the time of announcement. Now cash flow is going to be 50%+ greater this year so it's a no brainer to sort of expect the dividend to grow. No way to know how much or when it will be increased but it will be increased.

There are over 34k contracts in OI for 700 in the weeklies - if we bust through there it will be a incredible but it will need volume - if not we may get pinned. It's only Tuesday so anything can happen for the balance of the week. There are worse fates (for me anyway) than a 700 pin on Friday followed by a sales report on Monday

Just out of curiosity looked up institutional ownership and it appears to be @ 66% if I read it right. Isn't that up from 61% a couple of weeks ago?

AAPL not quite ready.
Fits the narrative. Nothing to worry about. AAPL's resting, digesting.
Next week is the key test.

I continue to think that Thursday's news -- and then Friday's physical launch at the stores - which will undoubtedly bring PR - will provide further catalysts. It's just a guess on my part - but certainly feasible. At the very least it should be on our radars.

Risk and return - the classic tradeoff.
Set and forget a targeted BCS? Max return - if AAPL lands inside the target.
But like any trader with some experience, I can't just go off and set up a Jan 15 990/1000 based on someone else's opinion no matter how historically accurate or esteemed. (And yes, I know Zaky's model portfolio is more conservative than that.) Conviction is an inherently personal thing, as it should be.

Hi, It's great to see this community live and kicking. I'm mostly a quiet reader, but having the ability to follow so many smart people here is really awesome. On to AAPL - Personally I think that short/medium term is a little overbought, and the PE became a little high. Put that together with the overall market rally and I decide to wait for a better entry point for stocks/spreads. I think that there are more chances for a correction of ~10% or a bit more (depending on the entire market). Any thoughts? Waiting for a 10% pullback just ahead of earnings and guidance for the December is like playing Russian roulette with an automatic. Greg, you know it was killing me to keep quiet, thank you!

As of right now? Bears have no power. There's nothing technical or fundamental pointing to a pullback anywhere near 640 that I'm aware of. Differing views aren't censored, but you have to back it up whether with fundies, technicals/EW (though I suspect only iPad and a few others are much into EW), something to check against. Personally, I see AAPL rangebound at 690-700 just for now. And really it's like 698-700! That'll show up in some timeframe charts for sure!

Anyone catch James Altucher being interviewed on CNBC just now? Huge AAPL bull but is insisting that the Kindle Fire HD is going to blow the iPad away and take market share from it especially during this holiday season. He offered to go through feature by feature and how it was so much better. WTF is he talking about?!

He is a big Amazon bull and he knows without the Fire really taking off, the 300 p/e will come crashing down soon. He is doing his best prop up an overvalued stock.
GM is also a big Amazon Bull. It makes no sense.
They are both huge Apple bulls.

Since the Great Migration appears to have been the impetus for several lurkers to reveal their existence, I thought I would join in. First, let me say how thrilled I am that the group has taken the actions to preserve this incredibly valuable and enjoyable forum. Special kudos to lovemyipad, first for the great job she did taking over moderator duties from Robert at The Old Place, and of course for her rapid and marvelous construction of our new home.
I am a buy-and-holder, four lots purchased between May 2006 and February 2008. Combined with more conservative investments in our retirement accounts, this enabled me to retire last year after a career in software. So why do I follow AFB, which is of greatest value to traders?
1. AFB is the finest Apple/AAPL news aggregator/commentary site on the net 2. The wisdom imparted here has calmed my fears and prevented me from doing anything stupid with my shares during stressful (WTF) times
Thanks to all of the contributors. It has been especially nice to see the return of several prodigals who were among the top contributors at TOP.
You will probably hear from me very rarely, but I did want to reinforce the grateful sentiments that have been expressed regarding the creation of this forum.

Notice the huge amount of dislikes on that video? That's abhorrence for all the cheerleader chanting and clapping and stuff. Cultural differences. My skin was crawling watching that. I'm surprised they don't adapt to local customs.
