Just missed a $160 close for the week, but it is the fourth green week in a row. Apple's first AI research paper wins prestigious machine learning award gives a peek at some of the work going on which will support more product advances in the future. It's always good to be reminded that Apple continues to invest in basic research. Reacting to market pressures is one thing, but true advances require thinking outside the box. There currently seems to be a lot of hand-wringing about Project Titan, but whether or not an Apple car ever comes to fruition, I am sure that the research behind it will not go to waste. On a sadder note, Court throws out lawsuit blaming lack of texting 'lock-out' technology in iPhone caused car accident reports that the parent of a son killed by a texting driver wanted to hold Apple responsible for not developing a method to prevent texting while driving. As a parent, I understand the pain, but clearly the actions of the other driver are the cause. I am finding more and more local establishments supporting ApplePay, and iOS 11 beta code references ‘Apple Pay Cash card’ and required photo ID indicates that Apple is extending its capabilities. The credit card companies are surely rueing their decision to use the abysmally slow pin-and-chip technology to combat fraud. It's a glorious day here in The Land of the Bean and Cod, and all New Englanders know how important it is to take advantage of summer, so that's all for now.

The iOS public beta with automobile lockout is really nice. At least Apple will not be on the hook for future lawsuits because the feature is available and people would choose not to employ it.
