Well, this was certainly a week worth waiting for.
iPhone X pre-orders are being scalped on eBay for $1,500, on average puts to rest the "NOBODY will pay $1000 for a smartphone!" argument. The only issue for a very strong pre-holiday quarter appears to be meeting demand, or at least coming close. I also anticipate that this effect will be even greater among the status conscious well-heeled folks in China next quarter.
It is also a bit worrying that Apple patents a unique way to coat iPhones in 18-karat gold. I have no problem with high prices for excellent function and quality, but I am less enthusiastic about pandering to those who merely desire to advertise their wealth. We'll see what or if Apple does anything with this process.
Kudos to those who drove the recent discussions about various trading strategies, but it certainly made me grateful that Apple has made my lazy buy-and-hold strategy so profitable. My head was spinning after reading them.
