The lack of ads over here is hugely refreshing. Why can't we just stay here permanently? Members are what makes forums. Something that seems to have escaped the admins over at the old place.

At some point let's just let the hate for TMO forum mgmt stop and just get down to AFB's usual business.
They did provide a nice forum for a time at the very least.
Li'l trade update for Monday: Hedging my Jan 14 BCS with a Nov 12 BPS smaller bet in case of a quick AAPL retest of still-forming support around 683 (since we just blew past it for the most part). Net long in any case.
Quite pleased with my Nov 12 or something 650/675 legged-in BCS. Might turn out a decent shade of green if only I can wait it out...

I'm with you, Mav. I had some 620/650 BCSs expiring next week that turned out very well. This run is making even my mistakes look good ( like the October 700 calls now green.....and which will be rolled this next week if we get some modest further climb...

Is that November position a bear put spread? Like this?

Very fast and smooth. Nice arrangement, big avatars. It appears most of the gang is here.

Made the transition to AFB2. Are we going to attempt to run on both forum sites in parallel?
I noticed today the pagination links are now on top and bottom of the TMO redesigned site, so it looks like they are making an effort, at least.

Found my way — I think I'll stay. Currently I am in Valencia (Spain) with my son. He started his second year of Computer Science at the Universidad Politecnica de Valencia. We moved from a dorm to his own flat. No Internet so far other then my iPhone 3G on Edge. I REALY appreciate the new board. Thanks for all the efforts. A cropduster (agricultural pilot) from Valencia visited my home when I was a kid.

Should be a very interesting week. Maybe some info about presales at the beginning of the week, and pictures of lines/crowds at the end of the week (plus anticipation of first weekend sales numbers the following Monday). 2015 LEAPS going on sale should mean lots of buying from the hedgers. And the QE3 may continue to propel markets.
But there's a wall of 700 calls for monthly OpEx. If there was a week to blow past it, this feels like it, but still...

It's a bear put spread hedge, yes. 700/675 or something. Short term insurance/cash flow play. It's just me, and I'm wrong a whole bunch, so don't mind my "contrarian" trade. iPad - are you actually getting individual avatars for us? And did you pay to remove the ads?! That's too kind.

That new avatar makes you look a little older Red (but so distinguished) :-) Expecting a little more run Monday, some folks will be jumping in thinking they missed the train. Legged into a few weekly BePSs at the EOD just in case we have a little pullback. Don't expect much with Oct. earnings and possible iPadMiniMe (codename Fenway) promo coming up. Maybe that will wait til Nov., Apple's got a full plate with all these updates. BTW, no way a designer made that mess. (I'm a web designer). Ha!

Hah! Classic!
Yup, I don't see anything wrong with a short-term hedge (or a "cute short" as Redler might put it) for no more than a week (maybe even less than a day depending on what happens), but that's just me.
Net long anyway, and Chas, I _do_ think iPad mini is good for a further boost in AAPL for the buzz alone.

One thing iPad - not your fault at all of course, but I wish ProBoards supported embedded images.
Otherwise, I'm liking the new - permanent? - digs.
Not sure what Dave over at AFB1 was saying about the "I gave some people the chance to preview the new forums in advance" deal. I did hear about it but it didn't sound like a full-on beta test in the least.

Not quite following. Is that November position a bear put spread? Like this? That's right. Obviously, it's not intended to hold to maturity -- it's a trading hedge. I opened bear spreads the first time we hit 680 (on bearish divergence), sold them at 656.50 (on bullish divergence), and used the proceeds to add to bull spreads. Opened another round of bear spreads on Friday (on bearish divergence)...closed 1/2 end of day and will add if I see more bearish divergence on a push to 700 this week. At this point, I'm not selling any of my long positions -- they're APR'13 and beyond -- so I scalp retraces to finance more longs.

I keep telling ya, don't get into a "I quit the market forev--" contest with me, because I will WIN!!! ;D I don't think I have ever, EVER played earnings-related stuff well. EVER!!!

Interesting. So at least three of us see a possibility of retrace within the next few trading days. OTOH, the weakness near end of day may have been a small tell. Maybe not.
Next Friday, though, all (short) bets are off. The doubters will be getting their dose of reality, with some likely epic numbers on Monday or Tuesday. I'm thinking 7 million iPhones, if not 7 million iPhone 5s by themselves, could easily be sold in the launch plus 2-3 days that follow.

I suspect we are going to be here for a while. Don't shoot me for this suggestion. One of the good things about the old place is that all the AFB threads were in one place. Here we have them broken up into multiple forums, so you have to switch forums to view the different threads. I think they should all be in one forum. If I am missing some navigation trick, then please let me know. My workaround is to use the 'new topics' button right now. My technical prowess involves pushing all the buttons until it does what I want. Is it any better now?
