Seems we fell off a cliff right at the open ....?? Sure did. I expected the opposite reaction after having a positive pre-market trade. I didn't see any headlines that might have triggered the selling, but who knows. At least we are only talking about <1%.

Google hit with $5 Billon fine for anti-trust in EU. From what I understand, it's because they "bundled" their own apps with the free Andriod software, reminds me of the old problem Microsoft had when bundling things with Windows. Frankly I think it's ridiculous when you take into account they provide Android for FREE ? Don't like it ? Don't use it .... Makes me happy that Apple has competition that keeps regulators off it's back. Google's CEO has said this is a very problematic court decision and may force them to charge for Android instead of using the bundling to make it profitable, this should bode very well for Apple and we should see some green today but I guess we are caught up in a larger macro event.
I'd like to see more of this news in the press as I think it could lead to yet another reason to choose iOS over Android .... if Google does start charging for Android I would assume they would opt for a licensing strategy which would really squeeze manufactures as they already have pretty thin margins on those phones. In any case, maybe it will take some more time for people to understand how good this is for our fruit company ... well at least until iOS has 90% market share and regulators are on Apple's back.
Cheers to the longs .....

Unfortunately the case against Google can be made against Apple's App Store.

Unfortunately the case against Google can be made against Apple's App Store. One key hurdle in antitrust law is a dominant, relevant market share. Apple's share of phones isn't big enough under most metrics to qualify for a tying violation. Typically, courts look to somewhere above 70%, and below 50% would never qualify in US courts. Keep in mind iPhones aren't the relevant market, phones overall are. So the App Store has only 22% of the overall app market in Europe. It would be a very non-mainstream argument that the relevant market is an individual app store by a single company, instead of all app repositories for all phones sold in the market. But never underestimate the chutzpah of a rent seeker.
It's ironic that Google gives away Android to gain share, and yet no Android phone maker has enough share to be a monopoly. But the relevant monopoly market for Google is search and advertising, not phones. But any schadenfreude about Google's fate by AAPL stockholders should be far outweighed by a general opposition to the EU doing shakedowns on US companies. There, but for the grace of God, go I.

One can only hope that you’re being cute here and not just a dick. Take it to the dungeon you damp squib Yes the EU sucks. Name a single innovative business to come out of Europe in the last 20 years that has made the world better. Nothing. Just leeches who want to tax American businesses. And have us pay for their defense. And soccer is a sport for little girls in America. And I'll post wherever the hell I want, thanks.

Fair enough, but then than means that anyone can reply as they like to your sometimes asinine and trolling political comments. On the whole I happen to enjoy your acerbic commentary despite thinking your (a bit of) an ass half the time. I’d happily have couple of beers with you whilst you bitch and moan. I’m sure you’d be pretty entertaining. ;-p Cali also has some pretty fine beer. EU sucks? What because you hold GOOG in your portfolio? Name a company... ARM Holdings? Airbus? I dunno? I do, however, happen to agree, in part, with your assessment of soccer.... You comment is a tad sexist but yeah, the way they carry on when they get a little bump. Canadians know how to play a game.
