One of the more baffling quotes from the People's Daily... "China is by far the most important overseas market for the U.S.-based Apple, leaving it exposed if Chinese people make it a target of anger and nationalist sentiment. China doesn't want to close its doors to Apple despite the trade conflict, but if the U.S. company wants to earn good money in China, its needs to share its development dividends with the Chinese people."Wait what? Really? So Apple pays Chinese companies for parts and labor, and because Apple makes so much money from selling phones in China, they should share their profits with the Chinese people? That logic just doesn't make sense to me, but even if it did, Apple, imo, has been quite generous in China. $1 Billion investment in Didi? Millions invested in green initiatives? 50 retail stores directly employing people? All the jobs created by the App economy? All of the manufacturing jobs sustained by apple product production? I'm sure I'm missing many more.

In my mind this is the only real concern for AAPL. The supply chain appears to be overly China centric. Whilst I am an armchair comementator here, a diversified manufacturing base would be less risky - the eggs are all in one basket. But who else can do it as cost effectively and as efficiently as the Chinese? India perhaps? Or SE Asia?

Yes, but one plant is no supply chain. And Wisconsin is not like Shenzhen. It’s probably a good start, strategically, for Apple. What’s the difference in labour cost between the US and China? Average $3.60/hr in China in 2017

those darn COMMIES! Apple has benefited from cheap labor and a strong supply chain in China and needs to share more of its profit with the Chinese people or face "anger and nationalist sentiment" amid the ongoing trade war, an article in the state-backed People's Daily warned Tuesday.

Elon Musk tweet. Thinking about taking Tesla private @$420. Says funding is secured. Something a lot of us AAPL longs wanted years ago .... of course who knows if the capital was out there. Really glad I'm diversified ! My TSLA position is about to pay off big time ... watching the events unfolding ... have no idea what is about to happen but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to lose any money : ) Bad news: Apple is about to regain it's position as the largest short in the stock market. Good news: Shorts in TSLA are about to feel pain like they have never felt. Cheers to the AAPL longs ..... (and the TSLA too ! )

(and the TSLA too ! ) Musk, again proving he's a lunatic, halted trading of TSLA today with his tweet. So far, there is ZERO evidence that Tesla has any funding in place for the largest private LBO of all time (by a factor of 2X). Probable SEC investigation. Eventually the Board runs him off, then what? Shorts, while repugnant to longs, are actually a practical GOOD. As LovemyiPad used to say, shorts are rocket fuel for a stock when it goes up and they have to cover.
