I won't click on the article, but even without doing so, I couldn't agree more with your assessment of Ewan.

“New iPhone X Leak Reveals A Trapped And Scared Apple” It’s always good to start off the day with a good laugh ☺️ Think of the number of publicly traded companies that would love to be in the position of poor “trapped and scared Apple”. We long term investors were foolish to have bought our X number of shares and to have held onto them all of these years. What a shame, buying and holding a company that, in the end, went out with a whimper; trapped and scared; right here and now near the end of summer 2018. So it will be written in the history books. Apple, right now, cornered and near the end of its rope. Probably they should just shut down the company, already, and give the money back to the shareholders. (But wait - not far off - just leave out the first part - Dell was right!) Give, the money, back. Yes, they, are. :-)

You already know the answer, but anyway: they did the 7:1 when it was “around” $700 so that we’d always know, I think, what it was that we’d need to get back to (easy to remember $100) as the waterline mark for where the split happened. Anything above $100 was, therefore, gravy. There’s been a lot of gravy.

Regarding splits, they did the last one to normalize their share value to the dow. I wonder if they won't need to do another one relatively soon. Does anyone have any insight into this business?

Well, AAPL's got a a little time to go a bit higher.
The more interesting question to me is where will AAPL be next quarter, generally one of AAPL's best?

Google and Waymo are going to force Apple's hand ..... Apple has to get into the car game and autonomous driving category and they are behind. I've said it multiple times and I'll say it again ... Apple needs to find some way to partner/invest/buy Tesla .... a Tesla with Apple's iOS and money would be unstoppable.
I bring it up because I've recently read several articles from people like Gene Muenster suggesting the very same.
Now is the time .... Apple has the money and Tesla needs it.
Tim and Elon ... please go to lunch .... I'll pick up the tab ... anywhere you want to go!!!!!!
Cheers to the longs.

I see 230-235 next quarter I think the euphoria about the new iPhones is way overblown. We just need 5-8% growth and we will be just fine. I don’t see us matching the iPhone 6 numbers. Regarding Tesla, I don’t see how Apple can help them other then cash. But giving them money does not solve the battery and manufacturing issues. Apple becomes an investor rather then partner. Apple needs to bring some expertise in manufacturing cars and they don’t have that yet. I can see them stepping in only when either Tesla is profitable or very cheap. Let’s see where we are in 2 years.

Partner? Manufacturing expertise? Geely: $27B 1/2 of Tesla market cap. www.zgh.com/the-group-at-a-glancewww.forbes.com/companies/geely-automobile-holdings/Edit: I had a deposit on a Tesla 3. Great car and great reviews, but about $54K I think it was when I configured it with AWD, and upgrades. I canceled the reservation. I've a Geely Volvo instead. I'll likely get a Volvo or Polestar hybrid or EV in three years. MONTHLY YTD 2018 July (units) 120,277 886,907 YoY Change (%) 32.0 43.0 I forgot, its profitable.

Regarding splits, they did the last one to normalize their share value to the dow. I wonder if they won't need to do another one relatively soon. Does anyone have any insight into this business? I don't see an advantage to a split until Apple is cash neutral. A 4:1 split that brought the stock to @50 would result in an almost immediate climb up to 75. We saw that same phenomena when the last split was announced. Despite the math, people see it as a bargain and rush in. Most investors want to buy in blocks of 100 and the split brings in a whole new set if investors. If I were Apple, I would want to complete my buybacks first. And I completely agree with the evaluation of Ewwwwen Spence. Still, part of me has to give him credit for a complete lack of a moral compass. No one can believe what he claims to believe. This is not ignorance, it is premeditated click whoring. Like most whores, his survival depends in part on his inability to see himself as others see him.

I am amazed at AAPL's ongoing strength.
Sponge's prognostication may be disproven shortly. One has to wonder how long this run can last. RSI is over 80.
Meanwhile I just smile.

I am amazed at AAPL's ongoing strength. Sponge's prognostication may be disproven shortly. One has to wonder how long this run can last. RSI is over 80. It's ok....most of us have plenty of practice holding AAPL longer than the market can remain irrational. I wouldn't call AAPL irrational right now. But truthfully, these powerful and quick upswings have been limited over the past couple decades, so I have limited experience with them. I'm willing to let it ride a "Wheee!" bit more. (At the same time, I still have plans to divest a minority portion of our shares, with the goal to get any margin borrowing down to $0 before the next downturn, along with diversifying. While I don't see us going below 50% of AAPL in our portfolio any time soon, and while I also don't have as much confidence in any one other stock, I also don't think it is wise to continue holding over 100% of our stock portfolio in any one stock no matter how things look. Irrationality happens, and there's always that black swan thing, which is much more likely against one company than it is the whole market or globe. And while the continued upside is nice, even a doubling from here wouldn't change our life much, whereas a halving would get close to changing things. As such, I plan to sell 10-20% of our shares, likely sometime in the next tax year though I may write covered calls for those if things actually get outrageous in this run. We're not there yet.)

Today's thread's theme seems to be, "always wrong, but never in doubt." I've got to remember to log in before browsing the intraday.
As for this Spence idiot (why did I click?), Apple was late to the phablet party, eh? And who was on time to that party? Samsung? LOL, how'd that work out for Samsung? Apple sucking 95% of the profits out of the sector, while Samsung was running buy one, get one free dealios on their phablets!
Personally, I'll be buying one of the large iPhones, as the current sizes seem to be designed for 17-year-olds with 20/20 vision and raccoon-sized fingers. I'll miss touch ID though (I currently have an 8). I don't like Face ID because it doesn't go straight to the home screen (did they change that yet?) without using your finger.
Weeeee.

Personally, I'll be buying one of the large iPhones, as the current sizes seem to be designed for 17-year-olds with 20/20 vision and raccoon-sized fingers. My wife upgraded to the 8+ a few months ago. It's big! But when using it more and more as a laptop replacement (Hunting for a car for a friend, she's happy scrolling through on it instead of using a larger screen), it makes sense. OTOH, it is really big. You really need a purse, not a pocket. And little things, like where we used to fit it into a cup holder on a long road trip while we had it plugged in, don't work. An X style with a bigger screen but less extra bezel may help. OTOH, while I'm looking forward to upping my screen size a little, I never have had a problem with my 5S, vision wise or due to large (but not xl) finger size. That's the nice thing about Apple finally having several different recent models out there. People can choose what works. Personally, that lack of variety across many to most product lines is one of the things that bugs me about Apple, even if it does help with margins, inventory and development focus.
