Thanks! Some nice tales, and some great memories. I really enjoyed that campus, even though the non-windowed lab there paled in comparison to the 4th floor DA3 lab with an expansive view where I was for many years. It was great playing volleyball in the quad, though the limited size of the campus did seem to give a tiered status as to the group you were in and it's importance. I do wish I had a few thoughts ready for the couple times I ran into SJ and could have had his ear for a minute or two. That was a fun read on Steve paying for lunch. I tended to only frequent Café Macs when Apple was paying, the small kickback for working nights and weekends into a major OS release. But I still remember the Cobb salad or Wood Fired pizza fondly.

Bit ugly for AMZN today.... lost a bit of gloss perhaps? For AAPL too Even with all the new glossy products. (Putting it all into perspective, yesterday I read the daily recap of the Donner Party, printed from Wikipedia years ago from some relative since we live 30 miles from there. Grim times. Time to go finish splitting wood...for next year)

Trump announcement on China coming after the Bell. Articles all over. Here's one from CNBC.

My newest blog post/article/whatever: A realistic look at Apple's value propositions for Watch Series 4, XR, and Xs. I'm positive on all three, but for Xs in particular, Apple has clearly, clear-thinkingly committed to being the fearless tech vanguard, with the inherent risks that implies (on the Xs side of things). It's not a negative, per se, it just is. And Apple's laying the groundwork to mitigate those risks. apple.news/Ae_xkCUhLQ_WWPol6DKgNAQ

Nice WSJ review of iOS 12:
New software is coming to your iPhones and iPads, and you should upgrade—especially if you have an older device. WSJ’s David Pierce explains the new things you’ll want to try on iOS 12.
I recommend installing iOS 12 as soon as you can, and then spending a few minutes getting familiar with the new features. ... because everything moves a little faster. Or, if you are on an older phone, a whole lot faster.

RSI and MACD show further weakness in the next 30 days.
Remember we are reacting to a sky high of 85 RSI the same way we reacted to a super low 23 in Feb.

RSI was certainly sky high -- but its currently just over 50.
Today's price action was driven by exogenous factors, China Trade, not fundamentals or technicals or any thing else. The sooner the dispute is resolved to everyone's satisfaction, the faster we return to normal.
Worth noting we're about 6% off of the high. Not bad. Sets AAPL up well to resume its upward climb.

RSI May be 50 today, but technically we have not hit bottom.
I expect us to hit the 50 MA in the next 2 weeks.

IOS 12 today, updated:
IPhones X, 6S+, 6
iPads 10.4, Mini
AppleTVs A and B
Homepods A and B
Tomorrow, to update: iPhone 6S+ and SE (wife and daughter).
Wonder if I’m a typical customer, or am I short on some things? :-)
All went smoothly - no surprises.

I'd laugh at the absurdity if it weren't MY MONEY they were wasting. This is the kind of crap that makes me think making Tim Cook CEO was a mistake.

If you cut down all the mangroves then there will be a lot less fish fish...... that means a lot less fish fingers.... less fish fingers means you go hungry... the world ain't that big and there are a lot of mouths to feed. now you don't want to fix it and you don’t want want any government to fix it... so who does that leave? it leaves either NGO's or the corporate world. would have thought that someone like you that can grasp the complexities of a company like Apple might grasp a basic concept like this... but nope... ideology first for you. This is the way Apple operates now. And they still make money. You could tip some coin in to a coal mine.... might make you happier (but not richer)

‘Put you money where you mouth is...’ I did. I knew exactly what sort of entity Apple was from the outset. Tim Cook is not doing anything that surprises me and I don’t suspect Apple are about to revert to a simplistic and frankly outdated world view.

Don't be so quick to malign Tim Cook on this particular issue, I suspect Steve Jobs would have done much the same. First of all, investing in climate related things could be profitable (Al Gore, along with his Apple holdings, made quite a bit of money from climate related things), and even if it isn't profitable in dollars and cents, the PR value could be substantial.

There are areas all over the world losing mangrove habitat. Pakistan and China are just two. What are the bleeding heart liberals under Cook and the board going to do next? Terraform Mars only to have it blown away at the next massive solar blast? Why? Because there is not enough magnetic field to shield Mars. Unlike Mars Earth's Nature is very flexible and forgiving. Imagine the habitat of NC/SC destroyed. It will coming back if you let it alone and hardly cost a thing. In Columbia's case imo our money could be better put to use in building factories, infrastructure, and services to support this. The lives of the people in those areas will move into modern life. If not, the upstream deforestation and continued manner of human occupation will negate any our monies worth of mangrove improvement. Fishing and bottom feeding sea food can be better managed in modern environmentally sound farms and the once great mangroves after many years gone forever will allow coral to prosper. Carbon sniffers and replanted forest can easily make up the loss of vegetation on the coast. Laugh all you want. Throwing dollars at just one mangrove that looks like its in its death bed is not going to improve the ecology and atmosphere one iota. It will fail. Adaptation to the new environment will occur in plenty of time.

JD whilst my only contact with you is through this board, I have a general impression of you as having a reasonable intellect and an acerbic wit, which I must say I quite enjoy. However, in this area you are blindsided by your faith in political dogma to the point where you confuse science as a religion. Religion is a sociocultural construct based on faith. Science has a methodology based on empirical evidence and rigorous testing of hypothesis. Who should I believe when it comes to climate science? Should I believe the politician’s dogma(underpinned by lobby group funding) or scientific consensus, based on rigorous methodology and empirical fact? Science is not a conspiracy or a religion. To believe so is just intellectual laziness.

Macster, religion is inherently irrational whereas science is entirely rational. (Yes Macster, there are bad scientists out there....) There may or may not be a God. It cannot be definitively proved either way. To claim either way is a faith based proposition.
I’m going with science.
