Let this be the Friday where AAPL's spring gets activated!
By the way, great to have Gregg back again. Over my many years of lurking, I have learned much about this crazy stock market, but voices such as 'lovemyipad', mav, phoebear611, mbeauch, wheeles, Tetrachloride, and so many other I apologize for leaving off this list, have helped me see the wisdom of being a buy-and-hold supporter of AAPL. Being a physicist, it is so tempting to fly into the exciting world of mathematics, statistics, and probability techniques necessary to begin to have a handle of what many here have spent years developing. Since I have other priorities and demands at this time in my life, kudos to you all for being willing to share and discuss differing opinions, approaches, and methodologies that have educated and enriched (meant with multiple meanings) the other lurkers, onlookers, and hit-and-run members in this fine forum.

If OI/Max Pain is any good this week we will probably stay within $520-$540 today.
For next week (monthly) it currently looks as if we might trade between $530 and $550. However, the highest put OI is at $500 and the highest call OI at $600. So a lot of scenarios possible.

It never ceases to amaze me how this stock trades down almost 4 pts. on approximately 5k shares. Who in God's name sells it down like this? You are either an idiot or a manipulator - choose your poison. The insanity of it all. IMHO

Good balanced article about trending consumer choices in the tablet segment. www.thedaily.com/article/2012/12/13/121412-biz-apple/“I looked at going for another tablet, but although they are cheaper, you have to re-buy everything,” she said. “We’d have to buy all the music again, and you have to take that into account.” Train engineer John Owen from Didcot, Oxfordshire, echoed: “Apple’s got me in now.”

I said in the EW thread last night that it looked like we're going below 518 today. I definitely think that's true now.

Even without EW, an unbiased look at the chart says that we are coming back to test the lows. Take the blinders off, I know you can It's frustrating as he'll to watch this all happen, but we will be rewarded not only monetarily, but with knowledge. I will never get caught with my pants down like this again.

Apparently no lines in China for the iPhone 5 launch... They have an on-line reservation system in place for in-store pick-up.

As for who, it's those that are loaded with puts or have sold a buttload of calls which they want to expire worthless. Then those on margin get forced out to add to the cascade.

FWIW: I know Apple spent a lot of money on CAPEX for this quarter, BUT to guess revenue for the quarter we are now in will go from $46 billion to $62 billion year over year is simply hard to swallow. What say you? HERE

I thought that was Malloy... Could be wrong, don't watch much CNBC these days. I was just commenting on what I was seeing around the web this morning that could possibly account for the 2% drop off again in PM.

Wow! What happened? I was out for a long lunch, leaving when AAPL was 530 US at 11:30 am, and is now 521 US at 2:30 PM. This is from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
Any news?

This keeps up and we may see sub 500. When will Apple file for bankruptcy? I have seen in some places, this week is the LAST week a company could announce a SPECIAL dividend payable before the end of the year. (I do not recommend such a tactic for Apple, but the EOs and Mr. Market may be reflecting the absence of a Special dividend.) PERHAPS, next week AAPL may rise a tad.

No, it's J Molloy -- is your answer yes or no? Just asking. It was ironic since J Molloy at CNBC tweeted that China had frigid response to the iPhone 5 launch this morning within seconds of you posting.

AAPL needs to be $130 higher from here in 3.5 months to avoid negative one year return! When was the last time this stock has seen a negative one year return? Didn't AAPL add around $45,000,000,000 this year?

Just the other day, Eric Schmidt declared Google winner over Apple in the smartphone market. If there is any validity to this, then millions of iPhone users in the USA will be switching to Android over the next few years. I just don't see that happening. Either myself or Eric is delusional.

Erick Schmidt is the executive chairman of Google what is he suppose to say? Why would iphone users switch to android because the chairman says their company makes a better phone?

Going to be really ugly today IMHO. Best case is a hard drop (high volume) and capitulation (again) early on. If I remember correctly, didn't someone have a chart showing who are the sellers/buyers based on the size of the blocks? Also didn't this chart show retail (blocks of less the 10K) doing most of the selling and institutions (larger blocks) doing the buying? If so, kinda flies in the face of the long held claim that retail investors aren't able to significantly move the stock. Not 100% sure about that chart but I believe that's what I saw among the vast numbers of charts I've looked at in the past 2 weeks.
