Let's hope that was the bottom and it quickly becomes a distant memory...

Let's hope that was the bottom and it quickly becomes a distant memory... I think we will revisit in Jan. Options indicate a low of 175. S&P puts also support that. It is always good to have cash.

Another "interesting" article from Seeking Alpha: Apple: Fund Managers Are Moving Away From The StockI would normally not provide a link to an article like this, but I was struck by the author indicating that analysts remain bullish on the stock but fund managers are underweight...oh, and Warren Buffett bought another half a million shares. Truly an article with something for everyone. Excerpt follows: >> Considering the recent change in the reporting structure, Apple's stock can see some major swings as outside sources are given greater importance to gauge the performance of iPhones, iPads, and Macs. ***Scary, right? Certainly Apple’s stock has *never* seen major swings in the past because of false stories from outside sources. /s >> The outside sources, even from reputed organizations, have not always been accurate.***Whoa, so many startling revelations to process all at once. >>A good example is the recent report of IDC about Mac sales in the last quarter. IDC predicted that Apple would have 4.762 million unit sales of Mac. In the recent earnings report, Apple has shown 5.3 million unit sales of Mac. Hence, IDC was off by 8.9%.
Source: IDC >>If Wall Street does not get accurate data from Apple, it will rely on these sources and can widely misjudge the performance of the company.
***When Wall Street *got* accurate data from Apple every quarter, it continuously published data from outside sources with little or no credibility. >>This will, in turn, lead to bigger swings in the stock and more speculation. With the change in reporting structure, investors would need to focus more on the long-term direction of the company instead of the annual unit sales in different product lines.
***Wait, investors “…would need to focus more on the long-term direction of the company…”? Well, isn’t that what investors are *supposed* to do?

Hi there, new member. Has anyone heard the Barron's podcast? A podcast behind a paywall. As a finance blog junkie, my suspicion is that it's nothing I don't already know. I could get a trial membership but that takes cycles and life is short.s

With all the Apple FUD floating around the media, AFB is a great place to discuss information regarding Apple/AAPL with like-minded AAPL investors. Sorry, I don't know a thing about the Barron's podcast but I'll be surprised if no one else can speak to it.

No worries. I'm a tech and Apple news junkie and the analysts can be so superficial. I'll pass on registering for now but we'll see if anyone else has heard it.

You have unluckily arrived just as our favorite stock is experiencing one of its periodic “The sky is falling” moments. OTOH, if you are a trader then this could be the opportunity of a lifetime. Don’t be shy. If you have been “following along at home” then you already know that there are both long term investors and traders here. Traffic has been particularly light on weekends, so any help with that would be great.
