Still have a few minutes before the rest of the family gets up and we hustle to beat the incoming snow. Time for cherry picking some data. Over the last 10 years (or maybe ever) I don't think AAPL has seen such a steep decline in a period of ~6 weeks. Someone can probably look it up better than I can, but looking at the chart, I think that's true. On the other side I don't think we have ever gone up as much from May to Sept as well. It was a 30% move. On the up side, we have 10 months in 2014. A 77% gain in 10 months. Not a bad time to be all in. Or the 4.5 months starting in November 2011. 75% in 4.5 months!!! AAPL has had some nice moves, over the years. On the negative side, there's been plenty too. I've blocked most out, but can piece together when they were. For dramatic effect we'll go with the worst one, all the way back in the year 2000. Yahoo shows it was a blistering 68% loss in a mere month!!!But that was so long ago! How about a 39.3% at the start of 20082008 wasn't done yet. After climbing out of the lows, it hit again, and even harder, for a 55.1% loss in 4 months. If you prefer 6 week segment of it, take a 41.3% loss in 6 weeks. For the record, I didn't much like 2008, especially since I used options and margin so my losses were even greater. "You all don't know how easy you have it. Back in my day..." This drop looks mild in comparison, though the "cause" of each is a little different. But like others, I've been sideswiped, not realizing that it would go down this much. Holding Long, it doesn't matter much, but it still is a bit grating.

At least we're in the green but underperforming index's and most other tech stocks. Frustrating. Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving (to those in the US).
Just got back from a 3 week vacation in Berlin, Prague and Vienna. I'm 66 and traveled alone. I have an XS Max and this trip helped me realize how versatile and indispensable my iPhone is. It was my alarm clock, calendar, compass and camera. It tracked and reminded me of all travel arrangements, stored boarding passes, train tickets, museum and opera tickets.I was able to access virtual reality apps in certain museums that showed me way more then I could see otherwise. I used public transit everywhere and was always confident I would not get lost. Google and Apple maps helped me get anywhere I wanted to go and gave me choices on how to get there the quickest way or the way with least walking, etc. It was simple to use specific and just about always correct. With a local SIM card I had access to all the data I needed at a very low cost. Getting lost was one less thing I had to worry about. That made me more spontaneous and adventurous. It was my restaurant critic; steered me to what was close by or found what I was in the mood for across town. It helped me keep in touch with friends and family at home, post pics and share experiences on social media. It stored movies, books and television shows to watch on long flights and train rides. It tracked the number of steps I was taking every day and reminded me to take medication. I was away for election day in the US but it kept me up to date on everything that was going on even while riding the Berlin U Bahn, a bus or tram. I watched travel videos and read reviews on places I was going. I could go on and on but I think you see where I'm going. Yes, my new XS Max was a bit costly but it took the place of so many other devices simply and flawlessly. It made my vacation SO much better and decreased the anxiety of travel.

Well I jumped in too soon and paid a price. Not the first time. I sold most my calls today for a loss.
We should have cleared 181 on Monday. That was the first sign of trouble. Since we closed below 180 yesterday that was second warning signal. We did not bounce to that level today and in fact we may be red again.
So I think we are setting up to fill that gap at 169. Want to have cash ready for it.
The big warning light is that the 50MA is about to cross under the 200MA on the Nasdaq. That is not a good sign at all.
We are so far below the 200MA that getting back to it may take a couple of months.

Was there something about the XS Max that made it noticeably better than say an 8 or a 7?

Video quality, improved speakers and audio, speed, improved face recognition. I buy a new iPhone every year and it is noticeably snappier. Being able to use augmented reality in equipped museums was also very cool. Better camera. Otherwise much of the same can be done with a 7 or 8 Plus.
