Hard to understand the need to defend App Store fees when YOU DON’T. HAVE. A. MONOPOLY. (There, I feel a little better.)
AND YOU COULD THEORETICALLY CHARGE MORE. (Some sanity.)
AND WHY ARE SPOILED DEVELOPERS OR OTHER ENTITIES SUING? (And I get to say this because, I’m a developer)
BECAUSE THEY COULD JUST TAKE THEIR BUSINESS TO THE OTHER PLATFORMS IF THEY WANT.
I’M WAITING.
AND MAYBE THEY’RE FORGETTING HOW HARD IT USED TO BE TO GET SHELF SPACE FOR THEIR MOBILE APPS AT COMPUSA AND/OR THEY HAD TO CHARGE $50 or $100 or $200 FOR ANY OLD GAME OR THING. (Oh wait. This was pre-2008 or so and there WERE NO MOBILE APPS OR GAMES OR APP STORES OR TOUCHSCREENS OR ANY MOBILE DEVICE OR OS WORTH DEVELOPING FOR).
BECAUSE THE ENTIRE WORLD THOUGHT PHONES WERE: (insert picture of any laughable with 10 years hindsight mobile phone from one of any of the now defunct cell phone companies. Do I hear Nokia? Motorola? BlackBerry? Windows Phone?)
WHO IS HELPING YOU DEVELOP AND MAKE MONEY? (None of the above)
AND MAYBE THEY’RE FORGETTING ALL THE COSTS FOR ORDER FULFILLMENT, PLACEMENT, ADS, DOWNLOADS, INSTALLATION. PLUS AN INTEGRATED DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT AND TOOLS WHICH COST: NOTHING.
HOW ABOUT THE DESKTOP APP STORE? (Way even less than a monopoly) Same comments as above.
HOW ABOUT, YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY FOR SIGNING CERTIFICATES FROM APPLE FOR EITHER DESKTOP OR MOBILE? (Contrast that to $1200 for 2 years for an EV signing certificate to use with Windows for any product you want to ship)
ETC ETC. Enough.
*******
Oh, the humanity.
Poor developers. Predatory Apple doesn’t need to take any money to defray their costs. They’re so rich. Why should they.
Spare me.
(Couldn’t help the ALL CAPS, my iPhone CAPS LOCK key must have gotten randomly stuck while writing this, so sorry. Any coincidence with my indignation in places is purely accidental)

Uuggghhh.... stories abound that Apple is restarting production of iPhone X.... ..for real.... Wouldn’t be a surprise if true. Because (I’m tempted to CAPS LOCK again) they’ve done this before, to sell older or US market discontinued products at lower prices in other non-US Markets. It can be spun a certain way, just like those supposedly supply chain cuts are.

Might as well hit that 169 target sooner rather than later. I'm personally just ready for the red to end. Give me a couple weeks of sideways action and I'll take it.

Not sure if anyone took notice, but for all the supposed "poor selling / production cut" iphone XR's and the X line in general, Apple has excluded them from their Black Friday sales. That's right, you have to buy an iphone 8 or older if you want to receive a $50 Apple store gift card. Also, Apple Watch Series 4 is excluded as well. I call bullsh*t on the production cut stories (or at least the conclusions of poor demand). If Apple really, really, really needed to move units, it would have been very easy and understandable to simply include the entire iphone line in the Black Friday sales without raising suspicions.

True. But OTOH the naysayers will give it a different spin: This time Apple is giving Black Friday discounts for four days instead of the usual one day - "They wouldn't be doing this if sales were good." Wonder what Monday's negative news will be. Bastards!!

I'll be mad pissed if I see in the Jan earnings that Apple only bought back a little. Anything less than 50 bln spent out of the 71 left would be little!!

I think it wants to hit that 169 target. So all news is geared towards that goal.
They guided a drop in iPhone sales. Any discounts are included in that guidance.
The next shoe to drop is Jan tarrifs.
But I think Apple will report record quarter over $93billion and we will revisit 225 by April.

That’s when the stock was around 160. I noticed they bought less with each subsequent quarter. They will buy back much more and set us up for a nice bounce after Jan earnings.

It can be spun a certain way, just like those supposedly supply chain cuts are. According to a insider source. “The report also suggests the resumption of iPhone X production is in part caused by Apple's contract with Samsung SDI for the production of OLED panels used in the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. Apple is supposedly required by contract to buy a minimum amount of OLED panels from Samsung, and due to alleged cuts in the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max production, Apple has turned to the iPhone X to use up the remainder of the supply. “

Really tired of watching this crap.
Part of me wishes Tim and Apple would put out a statement refuting the rumors and the other side of me wishes they spent every last freaking cent they have buying back first.
Red Friday can just go away.
Sheesh ......

Hey Sponge - After the 169 gap gets filled and the gradual rise begins, where do you see us around end of December and by mid-Jan when the major monthly options expire? Exclude the tariffs news that your expect.

It’s a fun guessing game but I’d never use it for investment strategy.

It feels like we're reaching the bottom. Hopefully next week should be it. Then some sideways action followed by a gradual up trend.

I don't profess to be any better in predicting the stock. I just noticed a downtrend in Sept and the S&P puts indicated that for Oct. I always wondered why the stock will drop despite good numbers. So I picked up a pattern. The RSI histogram was moving down from a high of 80 when earnings was announced. That told me we would go down regardless. How much was hard to see, but I calculated the move based on where I though the S&P would be in Nov.
I also noticed that when the stock moves a certain % up or down after earnings, once can triple that % and you get close to the top or bottom. The July to Oct move was an anomaly and so is this quarter with extreme moves to either side. However if you applied the 7.5% move from 190 you get a high close to 236.
I am a much bigger believer in gaps when we get these crazy moves.
So the gaps going up are at 185 and 195.
