Moving the supply chain seems unlikely. Just wait the 2yrs or less and tariffs should not be an issue again, hopefully. It would likely take at least that long to move supply chains in any meaningful way anyway.

It would likely take at least that long to move supply chains in any meaningful way anyway. I see it as very likely, even if it takes a while. Like having multiple sources for parts, it gives flexibility, a sort of insurance policy. While the current worry du jour is tariffs and trade wars, many others fit in such as natural disasters, wars or uprising, and general nationalism or at least trying to avoid a certain nation. (That's my guess with Qualcom, that it gave a quick and easy way to deal a blow, even if both companies are based in the US so it might be a net neutral). I don't see Apple doing more major production in the US until much more automation is used, though a pilot plant or special edition version production could be worth it. OTOH, I would think Apple would look at having production in more countries with similar costs, in addition to production that is already happening in places like India. In a way it's the "hit by a bus" worry, which was (combined with losing interest or focusing on Pixar) a worry I had for Steve/Apple/AAPL in the 2000's. But it did drive it home a bit after hearing there had been bomb threats at Apple back in the 90's, who's parking garage was under most of the Infinite Loop campus. Some people still wouldn't park there years later, since evacuations had left them without a car for hours until the area had been cleared. Manufacturing and supply chains of this scale aren't moved at the drop of a hat. But I'm sure they are part of the long term discussions and planning.
