Jefferies?! said something favorable about AAPL? It's the 13th sign of the Apocalypse.

The India article is not a good sign. There are so many undeveloped markets, South America and Africa especially. These markets seem perfect for the cheap phones. And with so little dominance, the Apple ecosystem will not take hold.

And with so little dominance, the Apple ecosystem will not take hold. It's not encouraging, but I trust Apple has the resources and talent to figure out the best solution. The mistake is to assume they're just standing still, oblivious to the situation. I can assure you they know far more about it than any of us or anyone reporting on it.

At this point I really wish Apple would come out with a statement regarding buybacks and an substantial increase. Something to the effect of " Due to this pullback we are increasing and expediting our buyback program" .....
What is the current PE with the cash backed out ? It's gotta be in the single digits .....
Cheers to the longs .....

I'd be happy if Apple were just buying aggressively, that is, they better be the number 1 company buying back their stock... and by a wide margin.
This is a gift horse that comes once every 3 or 4 years.

I ask bc it would seem to me that since they’re interested in buying shares, any statement that would prop up the share price would work against that interest. But I may be missing some point you have in mind.

An interesting article, IMO, was published yesterday on Seeking Alpha: Apple: Should Stagnant iPhone Sales Worry Investors? It was written by a person who's long AAPL and, along with recounting some of Apple's strengths, dealt with the issues that the author feels are the main contributors to the recent AAPL share price pullback. ======================================= So what do I see as the primary factors weighing on the share price? I see four primary factors, and they are below in order of what I perceive to be the least important to what I see to be the most important. I will address each before I get into why I’m now a buyer of the stock.
Qualcomm injunction U.S. - China Trade War Stagnant iPhone Sales and the new reporting method Policy missteps by the Fed and slowing global growth
======================================= I haven't even gotten through all of the article comments yet but I'm including this one, made by an AAPL Long and frequent commenter on Seeking Alpha, because I thought it was succinct and well stated. JP24 Comments5783 | + Follow Louis - You presented some real good data within your write-up. Thank you. Always appreciate seeing data about actual published results. Here’s some other interesting data. FY/2015 was a magical year for Apple as they introduced the phablet form factor in the IP6 Plus. That introduction dramatically increased the size of Apple’s user base. If we look at FY/2018 over FY/2015, what you see is that iPhone unit sales have actually decreased by 13.5M, iPad unit sales have decreased by 11.4M, and Mac unit sales have decreased by 2.4M units. Nevertheless, 2018 saw revenues increase by $32B and EPS increase by 2.69 over 2015. To put some perspective around that, Apple grew by the size of an entire Fortune 100 company in just three years even though Unit sales declined across all three of the traditional core products.
While ASPs certainly helped, the Services + Other Products groups grew by $24B and those segments continue to grow very quickly (24% and 35% respectively 18 over 17). So while they need at least stability and some revenue growth out of the core platforms, the business is transforming right in front of us. A business that I think has plenty of EPS leverage.
I’m not sure I’d be buying much of anything in these markets right now, but if you’ve got a time frame that stretches out 1-3 years at least, Apple looks very good here.

It just sucks watching this ..... not that I haven't seen this before but it still sucks. Oh well .... I am a firm believer that the business is still in very good shape so really not much to worry about.

Wow. Low of the day $159.14.
Wish I had some dry powder, but did not anticipate dropping this low.

I’ve got a habit of overextending on margin during these dips, and then barely surviving margin calls when it dips below levels I imagined possible.
