One of those said about (or nearly) 15% of users plan to upgrade their iPhone in the next 2 months. That would work out to 7.5% monthly, or a refresh cycle of 13.3 months. If you figure a third of those don't end up upgrading during those 2 months, that's still 5%/month, for a 20 month refresh cycle. That's considerably less than the maybe 30 month cycle that seems to be the average now. Sometimes the "positive news" seems as off the cuff as the "negative news".

Purchase intent is a largely useless metric. Perhaps some correlations can be drawn, but the numbers are never even close to accurate.
