Absolutely LOVED the CNBC video - just watched, it's as if an alternate reality appeared and finally some talking heads were saying what we've been saying ALL along. Esp. the 2nd interviewee when she makes the case, regardless of revenue mix, we are incredibly undervalued! I'm seeing that $350 3 year target Gene Munster put on us as not so outlandish at all. Buybacks, re-pricing to higher multiple, new services and hardware from apple (i.e. VR glasses, car, etc.)
Also looking forward to our next dividend hike - that is becoming a great source of investment income and powder for new shares and funding our charitable giving via this method:
Basically we make all of our charitable donations in first in/first out shares of AAPL and other holdings with big gains (which we pay no cap gains taxes on) the non-profit get's the full amount of the stock, and we've pay 20/30 cents on the dollar for the cost of the gift, get the full tax deduction - and then repurchase the donated shares (now retired as gifts with not cap. gains tax) via the cash dividend.
Speaking of taxes - being a CA resident getting hit both by crazy high income tax in CA and trumps tax "cut" which hits lack of deductions for the same taxes & makes tax liabilities somewhat horrific as of late in CA.
Happy Tuesday all.

folding is the answer to the question no one is asking. I wouldn't go quite that far. Most users are happy to have larger phone screens if there aren't tradeoffs. Right now some are bumping into the footprint vs functionality limit, where it's much less of a portable device if it gets too big. Take for instance the times where in a crowd of parents videoing their kids, someone is doing it with a full size iPad. Some problems are the extra cost, the extra step of folding it out, and the extra reach of your fingers. Cost will come down, some portion of the user base already uses a case that needs to be folded open, and people will grow larger fingers. Adapt we will! Or maybe some designers will put some thought into it, letting it stay folded shut most of the time, and folded out when you want a larger screen. Hey, that would solve problem 2 and problem 3. I see it happening, if costs and overall footprint can be managed. But it's not ready for the masses yet, so I'm happy that Apple isn't trying to go mainstream with it yet. It sounds like others aren't either, instead just making available some high priced prototypes. But like the hysteria over the possibility of adding a tiny projector to an iPhone (though it's usage worked well in "Small Foot"), there is a desire for a larger screen without a larger footprint in your pocket.

Chickened out and cashed out at 430%. Left another 200% on the table.
Volume is strong today so we may actually keep going up tomorrow. Hard to say.
Just need to get passed OE this Friday before the next leg up. Then will be buying June puts around the March 25 event.

One of the many, many, reasons I love this group (forum)! Thinking members.
[I'm not for not paying my fair share of taxes. I hope I'm in the position to pay more (not necessarily higher rate).]

Speaking of taxes - being a CA resident getting hit both by crazy high income tax in CA and trumps tax "cut" which hits lack of deductions for the same taxes & makes tax liabilities somewhat horrific as of late in CA. Over the years I've pondered about both sides of federal income taxes, and their dealing with high cost areas. At first, while at Apple and astonished that we were going to be paying extra taxes via the Alternate Minimum Tax, it sucked. Why should we, living in a higher cost area, have the same higher tax rate as someone in a much lower cost area. They could live in a mansion on $150k/year, whereas we were renting a little place. But the flip side of that (which I probably didn't think about until moving to NV) is why should the federal government give a discount to those that are living in a higher cost place, where their state income tax (and other SALTs) is higher? That's all getting a bit off topic, but bringing it around to Apple, I hope that they continue to add more jobs in a variety of locations. There are lots of advantages (lower costs of land/buildings/taxes/pay, shorter commutes, different employee pool, added visibility, etc), and few disadvantages. Apple has brought some jobs to the Reno area with plans of more, though a lot more to Texas. Reno is only a quick 3.5-4 hour drive from Cupertino in good conditions. While Tahoe isn't for everyone (this year is a big snow year, so our small local resort is up to 350" of snow so far (some resorts here are over 500"), and we have 5-6' of snow on the ground, up to the fences, and over my head on the roof), I also know people that moved to Vegas. A friend who makes video game commercials moved here from SoCal, and then on up to Seattle. There are ways to get away from the huge CA taxes, though CA does generally have a great climate, and taxes shouldn't always wag the dog. If you or anyone else wants more info, send me a message or post in a different folder.

Do you see AAPL reaching $200 anytime soon in the next few weeks?

The future of fold-able port-able devices, as screens get too large for finger reach, will one day also have a keyboard and track pad that un-folds. Maybe they'll call it a "laptop"?
