Good morning everyone.
HSI is GREEN while everything else is RED this morning -- including AAPL trading at $196.30 -0.70 (-0.36%)
Nothing in the news this morning. Not even FUD.
Have a great day. Let's make money.

Welcome to new member “prwalling”! Please do introduce yourself when you’ve settled in. Leander Kahney continues outtakes from his new book with How Apple is like the army (Cook book outtakes). Certainly not a comparison that ever popped into my mind.

Guy Kawasaki's best (only?) skill is promoting Guy Kawasaki. Makes sense I suppose since his role @ Apple was "Evangalist". Everything it seems he has done since has just been to leverage that experience. Nice enough guy, but do something new already...

The nice thing about dropping more than the market (nearly 40% vs S&P's nearly 20%) is that there is a lot more room to recover.
Nice to see AAPL staying above the 200 DMA for a while, and possibly getting ready to play with the $200 level.
(Hey look, it did. Nice finish, and even better if there are now a few days above $200, even up to $205. Take it slow, but keep on climbing, AAPL)

AAPL has recovered more quickly than I anticipated (yes, still a ways to go), especially going into what are traditionally slower quarters. My guess is that has to do with the more severe publicity hits that their tech brethren have taken, for which I shed no tears.

Don't do it, Apple! Huawei is just looking for a way to insert their spy chips into iPhones.

You know in addition to Morgan Stanley's Katy Huberty upgrade today regarding Apple's move into health care which has been a known out there for some time with even Tim Cook saying how Apple will be most remembered for its contribution to health care.
And probably some rotation going on with all the down grades that hit first thing in the morning plus throw in the momentum buyers for good measure because technically we're in breakout mode. I can't help but wonder if there isn't some credence to and word has leaked to the street that there really is a big M&A deal in the making...
Since84 posted a couple of links last Thursday regarding this, here's one of them:
A lot of moving parts going on right now, interesting to ponder.

Hopefully whatever M&A they do (if any) won't be as idiotic as when they wasted billions on the rubbish of beats.

Hopefully whatever M&A they do (if any) won't be as idiotic as when they wasted billions on the rubbish of beats. Really? They practically own the headset market with Beats and AirPods, and Apple Music continues to gain subscribers with what appear to be decent margins. I think the $3B has already paid for itself. It’s just a drop in the bucket anyway. I question more the massive spending on iterative products that end up costing more, at a time when consumers clearly don’t care about having the latest and greatest hardware and are perfectly happy to use their phones for as long as they’ll survive.

Hopefully whatever M&A they do (if any) won't be as idiotic as when they wasted billions on the rubbish of beats. I really don’t understand how people can continue to think this. Leaving aside that Beats on its own was a profitable business, it was also the foundation to Apple Music, which just passed Spotify in paid US subscriptions, and is an increasingly large part of their service story. This ignores any ancillary benefits they gained in developing AirPods (an incredibly successful product), as well as the network values of the talent they brought in. Beats was unquestionably a valuable acquisition if you think thru it.

Nice to see AAPL staying about the 200 DMA for a while, and possibly getting ready to play with the $200 level. Is it to soon for Car Talk ? Nah, I think that's only valid at a new ATH, preferably after a 15% increase off the old ATH. There's some room left for that. That Scotty guy was a Hoot. I've been watching a bunch of car repair videos lately in prep to replace a front bearing, and it's interesting what they all do to try to make it exciting. Often it's an obsession with WD 40 or PB Blaster or something. Fun times. It's a heck of a lot easier than replacing the screen on an iPhone, mainly just because you can see the parts. I must be getting old...

Come on $200 close! Edit: NICE! and solid in the after hours @ 200.58 (can we get a weeee...) does anyone have any idea about where Apple is at with buybacks? I just hope somewhere between $142 and $200 they put some coin to good use.
