I've been starting the Daily Thread since Phoebear had a family emergency many years ago. It's time for me to pass on the baton.
Having been here since the beginning, I've seen many people come and go. Whether or not I agreed with them, I always valued their perspectives. The Board has provided many insights that made or saved significant money over the years. It has also been a particularly fertile ground to make many dear friends. Thank you all.
I encourage you to seek the wisdom in the perspectives you disagree with. They are often the path to filling our own blind spots.
I will be around from time to time, looking over your shoulders if not posting.

Thanks Since84! It seems your watch has ended. It has been great getting the roundup, and your constant upbeat signoff always helped.

Thank you so much Since 84! I’ve read your opening posts every weekday for many years now. Many times, when things were going south you have given perspective and calmed my nerves! Priceless!

Thanks since84... enjoyed your posts and links when aapl news used to matter... hope there might be a day when that's the case again
unfortunately, these days the more pertinent headlines are things like these:
and yeah, wwdc is coming but no one seems to care

I encourage you to seek the wisdom in the perspectives you disagree with. They are often the path to filling our own blind spots. I will be around from time to time, looking over your shoulders if not posting. It's funny how in this world of "liking" something one might take into account if they like the whole message, or just part of it, and what that says. While I wish it wasn't time for you to pass the baton, you have done such an amazing job in this post and others at reminding us why we come here, to seek out insights even from those we might not always agree with, or when we need to see the support to get beyond the doubt that market descents often bring. I just had to "like" it. Of course the problem with finding someone to fill in or take over starting the daily posts is that you've done such a consistently amazing job, it's hard to imagine someone else doing so well. I hope that someone feels inspired to take on the job, gracing the opening post with their own style. Thanks again!

I may sound like an old grump lamenting aapl caught in the trade crossfire, but this May really has been a month from hell... remember that aapl touched $215 after earnings... with the positive momentum and anticipation of wwdc it could have been within striking distance of ATH! I used to be excited this time of year about wwdc... anticipating a big show for developers, if not actual product announcements... but now instead i wake up every friggin day to some other temper tantrum... yesterday it was china, today it's mexico, tomorrow what... canada? aapl seems to be 'trying' to escape the pressures of trade war the last few days... e.g. it's down less than broader markets today... but it's just plain demoralizing to see it beaten down with no fault of its own.
to old timers and long-term holders... anticipating your advice that this too shall pass and to hold strong, my situation is different... I have a core holding that i won't touch (though lstream spooked me indicating he's selling some)... but I also 'trade around' with shorter-term bets... i made a big bet back in january at $150... i was *this* close to cashing that one out ($220 was my target)... i was honestly expecting the trade deal would be signed when it was anticipated (early May)

If every wave were perfect, would there be a perfect wave? It takes some down times to appreciate the up, and to dial in your own risk/reward ratio. When the money is easy and it seems like there is no downside, that's when your bets and risk tolerance gets bigger and bigger. There's seemingly no risk, no downside. I could tell some stories of when I or others were affected by this, some with huge dollar signs attached. Maybe you or others would get something from it. But really, you have to experience some of this on your own. Good luck! May your loses be small in comparison to your future gains.

Hey I could start the thread every morning like I used to. There won’t be many links to articles but I can guarantee that participation will increase significantly as the knifes come out. There are 163K PUTs for SPY at 150 in Dec. Can we go that low? Sure if a true recession really starts early. Most likely we go to 250 where there are only 50K. I follow some folks on twitter that have been preaching recession for quite some time. There one guy who said we. Would hit it next year in Q1 or Q2. Kyle Bass. www.haymancapital.com/AAPl should be in the 135 range by then. Before we drop that low I see us in the 200 range when the excitement over the new iPhone, the new Apple TV+, and interest rate cuts, all make Sept look like the skies are blue and we have passed the storms.

Since84, your morning kickoffs with the Market/Apple/AAPL news and links, have, IMO, made the critical difference in holding this board together over the years. The fact that it even *survived*, after losing some of its most active posters, is a credit to your determination to keep us on-topic, respectful of one another and focused on the near and long-term future of Apple.
As yet another person who starts every day with a check of your opening post, thank you!

Thanks Since84 ! ! !
So many many mornings you were my first read, and always treasured.
And thanks for keeping the politics and the anti-Trump snipes out of it all. It was beautifully professional ! ! !

A week or so ago, I saw someone reference a gap that needs to be filled. While I feel TA is sort of self perpetuating prophecy, does anyone know whether that gap has been filled?
