I continue to be impressed with Apple. One thing that is a pleasant surprise is how relatively little trolling and hate I’m seeing/hearing as Apple takes steps to compete in fresh markets with Apple Card, Apple Pay, TV+, other services, legacy and future.
We’ve come a long way from the bloody phone wars.
That’s the company. The stock, it’s all about the next tweet. Will Trump be able to force rate cuts? Will he cut payroll taxes? When is the recession? What about China? Who is to blame? And what about Greenland? And are American Jews loyal?
Good luck guessing how wall street deals with it all. I don’t see any ‘confidence’ on the horizon. A China deal would help, but would likely be a bigger win for China, which would force Trump to do several new stupid things (imo).

Quartz has When is Apple going to release something more than a slightly nicer iPhone?. IMHO, this is one of the stupidest Apple articles I have read in a while. First of all, there have been very few products that have been as successful as the iPhone, both financially and as the standard setter for its market, not to mention as a cultural phenomenon. The odds of any company, not just Apple, matching that kind of success are long - not impossible, but long. Secondly, the newer Apple products that are included in the author's graph may not have achieved the financial bonanza of the iPhone, but they do dominate their respective device categories, certainly in reputation and mindshare; I don't have the financial comparisons at my fingertips. "While its services business has grown impressively in recent years, Apple is at its heart a hardware company." And almost all of its services leverage its hardware, and make it more valuable. OK, I'll stop ranting now.

The only stupid thing was your comments about these subjects.... Greenland has often been sought out to purchase. Cutting payroll taxes to reward the middle class is a fine liberal ideal. Criticizing the Fed for it’s aggressive rate hikes is well regarded. What difference is there between a Presidential tweet, a White House announcement or a White House grounds news conference announcement...this administration is very candid. We should stop criticizing China trade policy because the majority support it and it’s the right thing to do. Many wondered for over half a century why Americans who practice the Jewish faith always in large numbers lean left especially now since one party appears to have adopted strong anti-Israel sentiments. Lastly (imo) I think you have too much faith in your leftist news sources having framed the narrative for you, the reason for why we are even posting this political nonsense. Edit...removed insinuating remark taken as a personal attack.

Not sure why you need to attack me in your support of the President and all his tweets, policies, etc. Mods? WTF? We can't call the president by his immigrant family's original last name without getting banished, but it's fine to call a fellow board member stupid? Artman? Buehler?

I said your comments were stupid not you. If you took it as a personal attack I'm sorry. I was explaining to you about the issues you brought up. Cut it out. See the daily thread, where I addressed this. FWIW, I get in trouble for the same thing, with my kids. Sometimes my son does something, often to his youngest sister who is 5 years younger, and I say something like "stop being a jerk". In my mind I'm saying to stop doing jerky things. A temporary mis-step. Instead, he takes it as me calling him a jerk. Something permanent. Please edit or apologize....or at least go to your separate rooms for a time out. Posting has dwindled lately, though no one has been banished nor reprimanded for calling the POTUS by his historic name. If you want this place to succeed, do things to make it so. Some post links. Some post ideas. Others clean up their posts to be a little less grating, or just bite thy tongue and skip posting.

I believe you are mistaken. There was a post that got moved to the dungeon for using Trump's ancestral name. Ask the global moderator, if you need more info.

Are you suggesting that I need a time out? If so, why?
I think it is important that we be allowed to comment and draw attention to macro issues that effect AAPL and the rest of the market on a daily basis, and to do so without being personally attacked for it. This is an evolving situation (Trump and his market moving tweets, that he is the Chosen One to solve the trade war he launched with China, leaning on the fed to lower the low interest rates like you do when headed toward a recession, etc etc). It absolutely does effect investor sentiment and confidence, and I don't want to be part of a club that disallows discussing politics as it pertains to, well, aaplfinance. These are uncommon times and all eyes are on Trump.

"Posting has dwindled lately, though no one has been banished nor reprimanded for calling the POTUS by his historic name." I believe you are mistaken. There was a post that got moved to the dungeon for using Trump's ancestral name. Ask the global moderator, if you need more info. Moving a post to the dungeon is not banishing the poster. I moved one there because that was all that was said, so it was off topic. A couple others were moved for various reasons, but none just for using an ancestral name. OTOH, even a factual name or identity can be used (or attempted to be used) negatively. Dinging my son again, and appreciating that he hasn't taken to much more vulgar terms, when he is mad at us he sometimes calls us "PERSON!". It's not just the name calling, but the tone. With that, if anyone wants to become a moderator, feel free to ping me. Fun times! There seems to be several people worked up over the "global moderator" title. Most moderators are in that group, and there are only a few of us. Frankly, it has a little bit different but lower permissions than the moderator group. A person who is part of multiple groups can choose what group is shown, though it appears that the first group that you are a part of is shown by default. In a way it's a little humorous the attention this occasionally gets. But again, people in the moderator and global moderator group volunteered to help out around here, and so while we might not all see eye to eye on all issues, we do support each other along with the whole board moderation thing. "Please edit or apologize....or at least go to your separate rooms for a time out." Are you suggesting that I need a time out? If so, why? These are uncommon times and all eyes are on Trump. I guess I don't know how many times we need to repeat that on-topic politics makes sense here. This board is about Apple and AAPL, and sometimes politics enters, more-so as of late with tariffs. This is something we have done here for at least 5 year, if not since the beginning. Likewise, off-topic politics doesn't belong here. Keep it out of the daily thread. We always strive for this too, though sometimes do a better job than others. I have no interest in micromanaging that line that is sometimes fine. Use your judgement. But also use the Dungeon, or skip the post, for off-topic politics. As to why you both needed a time out, you were fighting and bickering. Sure, you didn't start it, but you also didn't stop. You expected a moderator to jump in, and asked why someone didn't. I already had in the daily thread. And your data on past banishment and moderator tack was incorrect. I hope that makes sense. If not, send me a message.

By banishment, I meant moving a post, and was referring to Artman taking offense at the use of Trump’s orig name. Sorry to confuse. As to bickering, I disagree. If you think my taking offense at a personal attack was out of line, I’m done here. I appreciate that being a moderator is a drag. I’ll bother you no further. If I want Trump soldiers in my face, I’ll go to a proud boys rally. Good luck and so long, longs.

No, I take offense to you thinking some politically slanted moderators are running the show and moving posts or banning posters in order to fit their goals. No matter how many times we've been as clear as possible to why something like 5 posts have been moved, and a single non-spam one has been deleted, in years. We learn from things and talk about them, and wouldn't necessarily do things the same way again. But what's done is done, and we continue to try to do the right thing, while also supporting those that have volunteered to help out here. Frankly, if the moderators were all on one side or another and trying to push an agenda, we would have had to delete a whole lot more stuff, no matter the side we were on. There's been a lot of off-topic political posts here as of late. For the whole existence of this board, it has had the goal of self-moderation. The simple answer to that is to be civil and only post Apple or AAPL related info. But yea, if you can't realize that bickering with another and then getting after the lack of and then perceived heavy handedness of the minimal moderation that we do, then maybe you should take a break. There will be Apple/AAPL news soon enough. We've got the iPhone cycle and the rumorville cycle, and then earnings keep coming around every 3 months or so. I value everyone's posts when they have something on-topic to post. I'll look forward to seeing yours too. (EDIT: FWIW, the moderator team that we have has a variety of political preferences, but as we ask of the board we try to keep off-topic politics out of it)
