Buy and hold has done quite well for us, but hats off to anyone who bought at 142 last December for a 50% gain.

Looks like it's time for an occasional reminder from a moderator. Keep it civil. Here, that generally means no personal attacks, and squelch the general attacks and off-topic politics. Sometimes LovemyiPad in an attempt to moderate would air the dirty laundry. Macster, your post was flagged and sent our way: At least you admitted (imo). The only stupid thing was you commenting. It's the end of summer, along with a time when AAPL generally has an up-swell. Enjoy it. I'm headed off for a short ride.

Buy and hold has done quite well for us, but hats off to anyone who bought at 142 last December for a 50% gain. Well said China Cat! not quite 145, but I pre-bought all of my dividends for 5 years in Dec. at around $155 on margin. Feeling pretty good about that now. Yes a wild ride for sure since Dec., and also the post earnings crash we had in early August.. Just remember the next time I brag about a 7 figure gain on an earnings pop, to sell (as I seem to be very useful as a contrary indicator) - but I promise I won't go there. Seeing the market is more of a forward looking discounting mechanism, I'd say we are sitting pretty well here, with flat iPhone growth, a non 5G phone coming out in the $210 area - seeing the rumor sites there are a few new features in iPhone 11 which at least may keep the on the fence crowd buying enough to keep us afloat until the 5G iPhones hit in 2020. Good luck longs! Only trading I did during the flash crash post earnings was as in my SEP account was to sell all of my $175 leaps for Jan 2020, and roll out to $200s for June and Sept. next year - I figure by that time Trump will be less inclined to spook the markets going into an election, and the trade war drama will be (if not resolved) at least back-burnered. Long term, for AAPL to diversify manufacturing in Asia/Inda a net positive, to mitigate China. Partisan politics aside, we can all agree they are a super power not with our best interest ecomonically or politically. I will be very curious to see the effect of 5G anticipation next spring/summer. Also Apple's purchase of Intels modem buisness and plans to eventually say Sionara to QCOM will be a huge net positive. The series 'A' processor IOS chip development has been a real differentiator for them - with 5G promising so much improvement - custom designing the 5G modem hardware to fit the A series and IOS software could be really interesting, especially as we move towards more VR type hardware and software.

In case you missed it yesterday... Teen’s Apple Watch calls cops on fridge-raiding bear (video), which includes this list: My (PED) take: Let’s see, so far the Apple Watch has saved a man from drowning, a girl from dying from a pulmonary embolism a woman from a heart attack a woman trapped in a sunken car a woman from getting blown to sea on a paddle board a mother and her 9-month old baby trapped in a car an old woman who fell and couldn’t get up and many more, I’m sure

Yah.... is getting some serious derision in the comments sections over at Macrumors.com... "Contact with Denim or Leather coiuld lead to permanent discolorization...." Cue the AppleCare+, Cases, Cover, Card Accessories Brigade etc etc Et-Al Forget that, how about the art show modification, of coloring the Ti with a 9v battery and some lemon juice or Coke. Admittedly, there are occasions where a credit card gets a little attention. My clear American Express with a smart chip was interesting when I got it 14 or 15 years ago. And our Venture Capital One was also a metal card, but painted. I wouldn't be getting an Apple card for the look of the card, but it sounds like it needs one of those notes saying "each card is individually crafted, and it's patina will change with use and the materials that contact it". Ahhh, the things people will get worked up over. At least with retiling our shower I have a chance at getting 1/64" tolerances and being "good enough".
