Here are the parts I don’t understand: ”What seems unquestionable, though, is that innovation in the entire sector has been retarded because of Apple’s total control of NFC chips in iPhones.” What is preventing other chip companies and mobile phone makers from developing and using alternative NFC chip solutions? Does Apple own pre-emptive patents? With respect to the power of the App Store, the question is basically the same. I confess to a lack of knowledge regarding the Android environment in that area. Overall, my view is that Apple has invested heavily in many ways to produce high quality devices and a platform for high quality apps, all the while providing top notch support. The butterfly keyboard is an obvious lapse, but it certainly has been the exception rather than the rule.
