So if Apple sells DJI drones in the Apple Stores, it can’t give preferential locations to its own products? Does Target have to give other manufacturers equal footing in its stores with its generic versions of toilet paper and vitamins and cotton balls? What 🐴💩.

I am having concerns about our fruit company. Trying to watch AppleTV on anything other than a iPad or a Phone is a disaster. My AppleTv device loses sync and messes up closed captions. If I try to use my Roku with the apple TV app, Videos are "not available" If I watch it on my phone or iPAd, I am not allowed to share it to the TV. All the hardware is working OK with other apps. The bulletin boards are full of complaints, so I am not alone on this. All Apple has to offer is restart, re-install, try again. I am embarrassed for the company and wonder if these cracks are symptomatic of a larger problem. What ever happened to "do a few things well"? If I couple these technical stumbles with the paltry dividend hike, maybe we are seeing the beginning of the end. Bah! Humbug!!

One would have thought that the introduction of Apple TV+ would have motivated Apple to ensure that the tech side is in excellent shape. We are still happy with Verizon cable and TiVo; we rarely get to watch all of the shows that we record, and AAPL has made us relatively oblivious to cost factors. Tim usually has the operational things in better shape than what you describe; have you expressed you concerns to Apple?

We’ve a Roku ultra I think - 2ish years old. I believe wired with a cat6 cable to a similar vintage router. Comcast 30Mbps service, which test at about 50mbps. Arris 6xxx modem with 4 channels up and 8 or 16 down. Haven’t tried captions, but haven’t experienced any problems. I did update Roku software at same time as adding Apple TV+ app.
I’ve read that Apple is trying to stream less compressed video than others.
Dslreports.com has some good speed diagnostics test bufferbloat, etc. for profiling quality. Try the Roku’s network connections test too.
I didn’t have any problems signing into Apple TV stream from the app.
If you don’t have a good docsis 3 or 3.1 modem with 8 channels down, it might be worth a $60. upgrade. The Arris 82xx 32 channel down has had lots of reports of trouble, I found helping a friend that bought the latest and greatest.
Good luck.

The user experience is everything. Doesn’t matter if the cost is low or high, if you don’t deliver an acceptable experience, you will lose.

Trying to watch AppleTV on anything other than a iPad or a Phone is a disaster Do you mean Apple TV+? Which model Apple TV? What bandwidth is your ISP supposed to be supplying? For what it's worth, Apple TV+ programming on my Apple TV 4k units is flawless. In fact, the picture and audio quality is noticeably better than Netflix's top tier offering (we have both services and view with subtitles on). It seems to me that some LAN troubleshooting and/or discussion with your ISP is in order…

I questioned Apple getting out of the Airport network product line. Maybe, for now, there are too many variable or weak links - worldwide - they didn’t want to be associated with or customer care support.
I’ve found that AppleCares tech notes used to be richer in the past

I do not think the problem is with the LAN. All other apps, Roku, Netflix, cable work fine. The sync problem only occurs with Apple TV (the device) watching AppleTV+. My ISP is Comcast so I get internet and cable from the same source. Speedtest says I have download speeds of .5 gigs/sec I can watch AppleTV+shows just fine on my iMac. I think the signal is fine. The probelm seems to be in the Apple TV device. Perhaps it is too old. If that is so, I think Apple should have warned users that the service would not work on older devices. I am also at a loss to explain why I cannot share AppleTV+ shows from my iPad to my screen. Airplay works fine until I select one of their shows. This worked originally and allowed us to watch the first few episodes, then it stopped working with an error message that said it was not allowed. I assume they wanted people to buy AppleTV devices. And for F**K sake, did they have to name both the service and the device the same thing? Thanks to the board for offering solutions and advice, I'll let youknow if anything resolves this. BTW a quick search will show how widespread this problem is and the failure of Apple to set up and address it. In the mean time, every time we try to watch Apple TV, we give up after an hour and watch FRIENDS re-runs. We are up to season 6, just a few hundred episodes to go.

I had always updated to their latest model as they were made available. The Airport was easy to set up and provided a trusted level of security and a great design. Why drop it?

In the mean time, every time we try to watch Apple TV, we give up after an hour and watch FRIENDS re-runs. We are up to season 6, just a few hundred episodes to go. I may have stumbled across the solution to my dilemma. Reviewing the above information provided the clue. There is a recurring problem with the AppleTV device that is not acknowledged by Apple. I should have deduced from all this that, if Apple is not confronting the problem, it must not be in the device. The problem manifested in two ways. The system would lose sync with the closed captions and it would spontaneously reboot. Both are symptomatic of chips operating near their environmental limits. The AppleTV Puck was sitting on top of the A/V Receiver so I moved it to a place that had less potential for interference or heat. Everything seems to be working now. Live and learn.

Why drop it? couldn't agree more, I have an Airport/TM setup thats does and has worked very well and the fact that our Fruit Co no longer supports it is infuriating to me, and Ditto for Aperture..... which I have built multiple Systems around. (reluctantly learning to use Capture One - But its not the same....) Bah Humbug!
