Developing story: Google cuts off Windows Phone users from Google Maps. From the web browser. Gloves have come off between those two.

Couple of things How many smartphone makers wish they had consumers with this level of desire: www.minyanville.com/sectors/consumer/articles/Apple-as-Status-Symbol-Apple2527s-iPhone/1/4/2013/id/47166Secondly IMHO money is going to start coming out of AMZN and GOOG and into AAPL. Here for what it's worth is my .02 on why. As the markets reached some lofty levels today and we plummeted again I kept wondering where the hell is all the money going? All three stocks are often compared and in the same or related sectors so one might conclude the money simply moves around. If you look at the charts vis finviz of AMZN: finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=AmznAnd GOOG: finviz.com/quote.ashx?t=GoogThose charts and appl seem to have a lot in common. All stocks had a significant downturn. GOOG and AMZN recovered or are recovering and both look like they are nearing a peak. While GOOGs chart looks like it can go up much more than AMZN the RSI, MFI, MACD are higher than AMZN. The big difference between the other two an AAPL is that all indicators on AAPL are at a significant low.

Developing story: Google cuts off Windows Phone users from Google Maps. From the web browser. Gloves have come off between those two. Really? Wow. Open indeed... Anybody still against the Apple Maps decision needs to look at this and reconsider. Trusting such an important feature to a competitor who can just pull the plug is a very silly thing to do. Instead, Apple actually got Google to improve the iOS offering.

From intraday... Similarly, one could 'make a bet' that Apple doesn't end up negative on the year, and double their money on that bet. Would you take that bet or offer it? I surely would take that bet. Well then, grab a January 2014 510/515 call spread right now, not touch it, and make that same ~107% in one year, as long as Apple doesn't go negative for 2013. Seems crazy that these 'bets' are offered with the premiums that are out there, but they are betting that our emotion takes over, and we wouldn't be able to just settle for just that measly 107%. Edit: Heck- just reading what I wrote tempts me to get rid of all my current positions and go all in on the above. Have a pleasant year with no day-to-day stress from this stuff, and piss my broker off for not giving them $1000's in day trading commissions lol. Sadly I don't think I have the guts to do that, nor do I want to do it because I'd be bored. What a nutty feeling. This is a great idea. You shouldn't need to hold them until expiration either. WAG, but you're likely to get near max value in the late summer or early fall.

I'd love for Apple to buy the Waze app. I love the integration of a live maps service with people inputting traffic observations in real time. I've had the app since the 4S launched, and it's never failed me. If Apple expanded and intertwined it somehow into their iOS universe, I think it could be really cool.

I think I may look into this some more over the weekend. Kind of the way I tracked the Jan 13 spreads (which btw I haven't updated in a while so I'll post my graph over the weekend). I think I may pull the trigger on this and do it with 1/2 of my account (the little that's left). Could be fun to keep progress on it and see how it goes throughout the year. The issue is, and it's already tickling me, is that we have the feeling that, "well AAPL has just been beaten down so much over the past months, so why settle for just break even in the stock price". There it is, that greed, poking around already. "We won't have an opportunity down here like this again for a while". Those thoughts probably run through a lot of our heads, about 50 times per second. Supressing them and being content is by far the hardest part.

Jan 14 510/515s have an enormous bid/ask differential. You could _try_ to shoot for the $2.45 midpoint, but I'm not sure you could get it.
Everything has its risks. Aside from AAPL not necessarily getting to 515 by expiry (that's just the way the market is sometimes), and the usual market timing issues, a LEAP BCS will drive you bonkers with price fluctuations far out from expiration. 510s and 515s may have some OI, but they have very low volume and the pricing and liquidity issues will test your patience. Last year I got a close-width BCS, can't remember the expiration or underlying security, but I DO remember that at one point it showed me with a paper loss greater than the entire friggin' capital outlay. Plays games with your mind and your indicated account value.
No advice offered here, only perspective.

I have those greedy thoughts all the time. Which is why I have taken a dive into spreads around 700 from April to October. I have no intention of holding these to expiration, but I should probably start adding some far less risky spreads while I have a good chance.

If it's true that they're asking for $1B it's a lot of money but I'd still do it. Apple Maps could have a serious competitive advantage with Waze's features implemented into it. A billion is far better served on a serious improvement to mapping capabilities than earning 1% at Braeburn where its lack of use is a drag on the stock. I'm not in favour of a major acquisition spree or anything of the sort, but this is one that makes sense. Waze is gathering quite a strong following and is quite good.

Usually, I look forward to ER. My hope is to see good ER and aapl to hit 600+. Will good ER move aapl up? In the good old days, I would say 'yes, definitely' but now is a question mark. I have waited and held on this long, so I will continue to wait and hope for better days by ER.

Packers vs. Vikings, this time in Green Bay. Packers lineup will be a bit healthier this game as compared to Sunday's loss.
Game starts at 7 pm. That's right .. a night game in Green Bay in January.

Sorry if you don't wan to disclose I understand. I don want to appear nosey. Anything under 800 IMHO you'll be okay. I have 700s, 800s and a big spread of 750-810. These are the least of my concern

Tried to start the day on a positive note...the year on an uber-positive note...but this stock mentally and physically exhausts you. I try to respond to it, and often I do but there are days like today that I feel like a deer in the headlights..stunned.....but angry.....trying to understand it. Just exhausting...I'm spent.

Realistically i'd go with a 25 or 50 pt spread to make it easier. 500/525 mid is $12 etc. The point is that a 1 year spread with the middle around where we are now, makes over 100% as long as Apple stock stays positive. I'm going to set up some a real strateGem and post it by Sunday. We'll see what I come up with after I do some research.

iPad mini in March? No way. Maybe late 2013 though. If it's a March iPad you're after Munster and Co., maybe you should be looking for iPad 5. If Apple can iterate SoCs every year, The A7/X should be ready. Late 2013 could also coincide nicely with an Apple Television, IF there's to be one this year. Maybe, maybe not...you gotta think that if there's a limiting factor, it's content over technology. 4MP television? Maybe in 20 years.

I guess it goes without saying that I hope Monday is a strong up day. Once again it seems like options expiration pissed on our chips and ruined any chance of an end of day bounce. Weekly options has really ruined trading AAPL.
