No, I’ve not seen that. But I will try and watch it. Clarence Thomas is an amazing man. When you look at where he started and see what he has accomplished in his life is a true inspiration. Thank you for the heads up. Not a movie but one of my favorite videos of all time. I have posted years ago on this forum but notice who picks the winner of the debate. This would be as it is today, the media of course. Hayek the clear winner, but of course the media gives the victory to Keynes and his notion that government knows best in all cases. Extend that to today, here on this forum, and these guys who are now wanting to extend that power to a terrorist organization, which has taken over 7 blocks of a city. Parse it anyway you want, they are traitors to America and the COTUS. They must be dealt with, and if they don't back down it won't be pretty. And of course when it is dealt with, the media will determine the instigators and the victims, and we know the outcome of that determination. The people on this forum are perfect examples of who will join with MSM to convince the public that we will be better off with these socialist terrorists. The video foreshadowed this future. Dangerous times for our kids and grandkids.

“The Current War” movie is about the battle over the future of electricity, AC or DC. Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch) George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon) and Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult). A beautifully made film that tells an amazing story. I saw it on AppleTV. A few facts about the movie and reality. THE CURRENT WAR (2019)

An Inspector Calls (2015)We watched this last night on Amazon Prime. A very well made movie set in 1912 with a story line that will keep you guessing, very thought provoking. If you decide to watch it, share your thoughts.

These four elements were also responsible for the fall of the family. What do you think? Do you think that the inspector was an angel?

That was my initial thought and he seemed to possess information that he should not have had and the ending amplified that notion since he was not a detective with the local police. The movie kind of leaves it up to the viewer. I liked it anyway, a good example of how the soft bigotry of low expectations can have multiple irretrievable outcomes that can cause immense pain. However I am not sure that anyone in that family had the ability to exhibit pain since the death of a child and grandchild did not seem to affect them to any great degree. Thanks for pointing the movie out to me.

Your very welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I watched the movie again last night and noticed that there may have been a ray of hope for the two children as they saw the errors of their actions and were truly sorry. They had a heart, the parents were too consumed with their own self worth that they felt no remorse but only fear of the affect that the events would have on their social status. One can never know the ripple effects that our actions may have on those around us, for good or for bad.
You will also enjoy Greyhound.

I thought the daughter might be qualified for some hope but I am not sure about the son. I thought I remembered him and Mother sharing a laugh "after" he learned of her death and the baby's as well, but that moment may have come before he got the news. I am still traveling but I will try to watch Greyhound when I settle back in. Thanks again for the reviews.

The International staring Clive Owens and Naomi Watts. A fictional story that likely has a great deal of truth supporting it. On Amazon Prime.

The International staring Clive Owens and Naomi Watts. A fictional story that likely has a great deal of truth supporting it. On Amazon Prime. Watched this and it was a good movie (though exaggerated) about the depths of corruption in the international banking hierarchy. Is it any wonder? These banks are generally controlled by leftist and globalist liberals and in the States by Democrats. Reminds of the speeches GW made trying to get reform done on Fanny & Freddie in 2006 and 7 before the Democrats forced the collapse, just in time for the election. Remember Waters and Frank defending them constantly and Waters made this statement in 2003. "Mr. Chairman, we do not have a crisis at Freddie Mac, and in particular at Fannie Mae, under the outstanding leadership of Mr. Frank Raines. Everything in the 1992 act has worked just fine. In fact, the GSEs have exceeded their housing goals. What we need to do today is to focus on the regulator, and this must be done in a manner so as not to impede their affordable housing mission, a mission that has seen innovation flourish from desktop underwriting to 100 percent loans. — Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) in a September, 2003, hearing of the House Committee on Financial Services." Read an honest appraisal of the successful effort to elect a rabid left-wing socialist here: humanevents.com/2008/09/30/democratic-coverup-for-fannie-and-freddie-led-to-2008-meltdown/"The hearing came about because two Bush Administration cabinet secretaries had presented the committee with a “proposal to improve regulatory oversight for the GSEs” with an opening statement, including: “There is a broad agreement that the current regulatory structure for the GSEs is not operating as effectively as it should. The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight is underfunded, understaffed and unable to fully oversee the operations of these sophisticated enterprises." "Yet the response by the Democrats on the committee, who had turned what should have been an issue of protecting public trust and money into a partisan divide so that they could buy votes with their “affordable housing” social engineering scheme, was uniformly against improving oversight of GSEs. Democrat Barney Frank (D-MA), who was the ranking Democratic committee member at the time (and is its chairman today), said, “I think it is clear that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are sufficiently secure so they are in no great danger… Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac do very good work, and they are not endangering the fiscal health of this country.” Sorry for posting this in the Movie thread but these are things that should never be forgotten. The banks may be corrupt in the US, but they are only corrupt at the behest of the Democrat Party and the power they gain from controlling them. There is no corner in life that can separate itself from politics.

“The Professor and the Madman” (2019) on Netflix. With Mel Gibson and Sean Penn. A fantastic movie based on a true story about the writing of the first dictionary. Excellent acting, story line and sets. Got a little rough in places but highly recommended.

I watched “Greenland” last night staring Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, who i remember from “Firefly” and “Serenity“.So if you’re wanting a disaster movie, and you are growing tired of the global warming / escape the planet / killer zombies story line, then this is for you. A end of the world story that could truly happen with plenty of human interest thrown. Great special effects and with what I thought was an accurate display of how different people would react differently when faced with their certain demise. I rented it on AppleTV.

“The Dig” , staring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes, is a true story of the Sutton Hoo ship burial dig in 1939. Ralph Fiennes at his best. On Netflix.

We watched that yesterday as well and I enjoyed it. The Brits can come across a bit pompous at times but this story had a really good tone for something based on a true story. Hollywood didn't ruin this one.

In case you may have missed this, one of my favorite murder mystery series is the one where Tom Selleck plays “Jesse Stone” that is based on a series of books by Robert B. Parker. The series needs to be watched in their proper order for the story line to make sense. This is Tom Selleck at his best. There is a great interaction between the main characters with a few surprises thrown in from time to time. And a great music soundtrack which I think adds to the story. I own the series on dvd so you you may need to ask Siri to find it for you on line.

I own the series on dvd so you you may need to ask Siri to find it for you on line. I have watched them all in order and rewatched a couple of them. As you may have guessed Selleck is one of a handful of Hollywood stars that I really like. He is or was a NRA board member and a solid American. He has withstood a lot of threats and harassment from these worthless people, far better and longer than I could. Quigley Down Under is my favorite, watch it if you haven't seen it and The Sacketts is a close 2nd. I have watched Quigley 17 times and counting and have no plans to stop. Quigley puts Taken 1, with Liam Neeson far back in 2nd place, mainly because Neeson is anti-2nd Amendment. I can't imagine sacrificing my beliefs the way Neeson has in several movies where he has ended the bad guy with one of his hated guns, I don't care how much they are paying. My favorite scene from Taken:

Yes, I agree. I also bought Quigley Down Under on dvd many years ago and every time I watch it I anticipate that final line. Quigley was a man of few words and many actions. Alan Rickman, always plays a great bad guy as he did in the first Die Hard and in Robin Hood.
Tom Selleck has had a great career in spite of Hollywood’s biases. I had read somewhere that they wanted him to play the role of Indiana Jones but because of his commitment to Magnum he had to turn it down. Just as well, I like Harrison Ford as Indiana.

I have been meaning to ask you if you have watched "The Queen's Gambit" on Netflix. I enjoyed the heck out of it and everyone I have mentioned it to has as well. I don't think we have discussed it so if you haven't seen it watch it first chance you get, I don't think you will be disappointed. Here is a trailer.

Yes, I thought that The Queens Gambit was great. It was much better then I first expected. I did not know that that she had ever existed.
Another great find was “ Radioactive (2019)”. And another one that is related is “ Radium Girls (2018)”. Also based on a true story, but can be a little rough to watch.

Not a true story but there are numerous guesses out there as to who inspired the story by Tevis. Some say Bobby Fischer others say it is an amalgamation of of famous players and still others say it was a a look at Tevis himself. The one I like is that Diana Lanni inspired the writer. She fit the role and supposedly knew Tevis. Here is a recent article about this theory I found interesting with some old photos of Lanni and friend Grand Master Kaufman. Doesn't matter it is a great series and I enjoyed it no matter if it was fictional or not. I wish the filmmakers could produce more like this. Why did it take them 35 years? www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-9263841/Was-Girl-chess-1980s-inspiration-Netflix-hit-Queens-Gambit.html

‘I Care A Lot.’ on Netflix. If you decide to watch this movie don’t read any reviews or watch the movie trailer ahead of time. As the plot unfolds you will find yourself becoming more and more angry and fearful because you will realize that at some level it could happen to you. Starting Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage.

First time I have ever rooted for the Russian mafia in any movie I have seen. They had to throw in the ending just to keep the ratings up. To me it was the perfect example of the liberal utopia that exists here, and anyplace liberals are in charge. Some elitist bureaucrat taking advantage of the elderly while patting themselves on the back for being so "caring". Big government at its finest. I enjoyed it, but it did remind me that I pulled for a drug peddler for 62 episodes of Breaking Bad, and felt guilty for doing so. We have to face the fact that there are some people on earth that we won't miss when they are gone. Sometimes we are faced with which is the lesser of two evils, and do we get rid of it. Thanks for posting it, now if I can just forget it.
