Travis just posted this...
"If retailers really wanted to help the cause, you buy zero calls for next week and get about 30K $700 puts open and you will see $AAPL fly"

I got it for 2.40, trying to get 2.35 in another acct, i.e., even more French, LOL. Edit: Just modified and filled the second order, also 2.40. JD, why would you go so high when you could go $50 lower and get for close to the same price?

I knew you'd comment if someone mentions the French ;D I had a bad experience as well when I asked an airport employee in Paris something. He answered in French knowing very well I had no idea what he was saying. It was beneath him to speak English. However, I have several very good friends that are French, and they are great people that work hard - so generalizing is not really a good thing. There are lazy and stupid people in every single country on this planet. Since I am of French blood I feel compelled to chime in. LOL The experience that sticks out to me is one in the Atlanta airport. I was looking for my baggage carousel when the absolute most beautiful woman I have ever seen in person, I mean ever, walked up to me and asked for my help. I thought I had won the lottery and was looking for cameras. I ask her where her flight originated and she said Paris in her beautiful accent. For whatever reason she moved closer and was touching me and seemed very appreciative. Then it hit me, the most God awful smell I have ever encountered, BO that could have ended the last 3 wars. I quickly found her luggage and was gone in a flash. Has scared me for life. That was 7-8 years ago, remember it like it was yesterday. Lol, great story.

MB, does Tammy read these forums? ;D Tammy and I were just friends back then. Did not start dating serious till 2006ish. And to answer the question, no. LOL She knows I am a nut anyway. I told her that story and she laughed. Speaking of Tammy, hope she is all right. I recall some health issues a few years back. Nice to see you back Mark.

Thanks. I think my .20 cent bid was a bit too stinky. Need to re-evaluate. .20c (insert confused look here) Really, .20c? Yep .20c. Moved it all the way up to .25c for part of the day. It didn't fill - surprise, surprise. It's $300 out of the money and 28 months away. Thats a lot of ground to cover and a lot of things can happen between now and then that could derail my estimations, so in my book thats a lot of risk to assume. And if I'm going to assume that risk, I want an roi that I'm comfortable with. I'll move my bid up, but I'm not going to pay the $4, or $2, or $1.25 that they were asking. For that return I'll buy a much closer in BCS.

AAPL has to get ahead of this because it is trending and people are tweeting like mad...take a look at this tweet: "An entire city is in the ocean, a farm has been labeled as an airport, highways end in the middle of nowhere and a hospital .." And GOOG is eating it up: Source: Google Hopes To Have iOS Maps App In The Appstore "Before Christmas" tcrn.ch/RE9F8d

JD, why would you go so high when you could go $50 lower and get for close to the same price? Both are nice spreads. But there are pretty wide ranges between bid and ask with these LEAP spreads; mark (small m) isn't all that accurate. At mark price: 2.45 1.90 - 3.00 Jan 14 980-1000 max return 716% @ ~1005 3.23 2.15 - 3.60 Jan 14 930-950 max return 519% @ ~955 38% better return for 32% less money. Probably could get the 930-950 for a bit cheaper, but you get the point. Obviously, if we close at 975 in Jan 14, mine is dead. But this is rollover mad money, not my entire net worth. ;D $1000 in 16 months?

Not-trick question: How long does it take for Apple to respond to "major snafus" like Antennagate and Locationgate?

i have now used maps for two days. I have nothing to complain about. Love the turn by turn directions and the 3D views. search could be better, but not a deal breaker. Apple will update and improve. This is a whole lot of nothing. Look at those complaining. They are not serious map users. They have few posts. I guarantee you that Google Maps is not perfect either. In the words of Horace. Lets check back in a month on this issue. Sponge, I think this is both more nuanced, and more important in the short term, than you do. Apple's new tool is an excellent design. For directions en route it provides data that is more salient and more legible: improving safety and reducing cognitive load. For exploration and search, the data displayed is more sensitive to scale, far less detailed at larger scales than smaller ones. In the long run, I think this is a superior design and people will be more pleased by it. However, in the short run, these features will be touted as bugs or as deficits. I do think that it will result in downward pressure on the stock. Regarding walking and transit map functionality the Apple maps are currently a regression. Although this affects a fairly small percentage of the user base (especially in the North American market), it is important since a disproportionally large percentage of technorati and bloggers are concentrated in the big coastal cities where this is important. Thus those who are likely to complain are likely to carry more weight. In the long run, I feel Apple has made good decisions with this roll-out. As usual, they put in a solidly designed base to support years of small improvements. 2-5 year money should be unfazed or positive on this, but shorter term traders may want to recognize the possibility of bad press on this topic in the mean time.

Shopped today. Picked up 30 Apr 13 700 and a Frieling 17 oz Stainless Steel French Press and Capresso Burr grinder. Leaving now to pick up some beans. There may have been a Sep4 12 or two weekly in the bag when I got home. I think they gave them to me as a freebie

Note for context: the Verge also thinks Apple made a mistake by turning the nano into a not-smartwatch.
And is sponsored by Apple's competitors.

The 2014 990/1000 should be able to be had for the 2.40 you talked about. I think you could get the 940/950's for 2.60-70. Now I get the percentage ROI, but dang, you are paying .20-.30c for $50. I had not even looked that far out, thanks for bringing it to my attention. Will buy a block of them tomorrow. (Jan 14 - 940/950) TY

I bid .20c to .25c. Ask was from $4 to $2 to $1. We didn't make a deal today. Based on your 700% return, I should be looking at paying no more than .65c. No panic here, lots of time between now and 2015. I'll try another French (stink) bid tomorrow.

I think the maps issue is a problem but not a big one simply because you can put a link to the google maps web site right on your home screen. No app needed. If people were locked into apple maps with no alt. then that might effect the stock price but they can use google any time they want.
Once the rough edges and discrepancies are worked out I actually think the apple maps look much better.
Apple has the money and talent to fix these problems fast and they will.

Underneath that avatar lies a gentleman and a nice guy. Until you talk politics and maybe challenge him to a round of golf? ;D I am speechless, TY Mav, that was a nice thing to say. Several members have met me, they understand the avatar fits my personality. I enjoy laughing and poking fun and I just laughed so hard when I first saw the avatar I had to have it, Kiwi used to love it. I remember incorrigible used to have a similar avatar several years ago. The way I am about politics is because I love my country and what it stands for and the way I am about golf is because I am insanely competitive. I can't help myself. LOL I will be the guy in the nursing home pitching dimes against the wall.
