Options are the terrain, friends. You might as well complain about the hills and trees. Let us learn and fight and win, on the terrain we have before us, or move on.
Bartender, is the bar open?

Why doesn't the weekly options market kill all stocks then? Why would it just be Apple? Because the options volume on other stocks is at least a magnitude lower. A comparison of AAPL and GOOG open interest expiring today. Note that near the closing strike, the call OI is about 5X on AAPL vs GOOG on any given Friday. And look at all the calls above the closing strike on AAPL expiring worthless. That's one good reason why we didn't go up today. IMO, all the retail call buyers are still trying to get that lottery ticket on AAPL, like when it had its big run and made the Snipuses. But, paradoxically, options have since killed that phenomenon. GOOG, OTOH, was flat all that time, so the call-as-common-arrester (CACA) phenomenon never happened to its stock.

Are you the one who said that "Apple is the harbinger of what might happen to the market later?" Yes, I am wondering if we led.

RE: GOOG... I've been watching the chart, and I could be seeing things (JD queues "Beautiful Mind" ), but there are noteable similiarities between GOOG here and AAPL at 705. GOOG had a run similar to AAPL's to 644 and a dive similar to AAPL's APR'12. Now these ATHs are happening on similar negative divergences that AAPL's chart showed in the 680-705 region. Just something to watch. Please do NOT front-run!!! If my thesis is right, there will be an initial breakdown followed by a (failed) retest of the highs. That is the safer short entry.

Mostly, the bulls (including me) have been wrong since September. Oddly, many TA's lost as well even though they theoretically should have been spared. Only the ones who had even an ounce of fundamental influences. Below the daily SMA-200, I had a really hard time believing what the charts were clearly showing, and an even harder time believing it would last anywhere near this long.

I'm just waiting for them to trickle down to the lower timeframes... After AAPL's never-ending crash, it's been ages since I've cheered for down...I have some serious making-up to do!!!

Thanks for pointing this out. I am a professional photographer and the iPhone camera (I have the 4S) is unbelievable. Using the 6x6 app I import jpegs from my iPhone into Photoshop at 18MB....that is huge for this sort of a camera. It is about 3xs the file size of my first digital camera in 1999 (that cost $10,000). It has limitations, of course--specifically, it does not do well in contrasty light situations, but in even lighting, it is terrific. I have printed photos from this camera into a large format and they look wonderful. I always refer to my iPhone camera as "the new Leica" to my photo friends (many of whom bought the iPhone 5 just for the camera alone). Now, if Apple could only put in one of those priceless Zeiss lenses in camera I would be overjoyed! One of my photo friends who was an AVID Blackberry user, now has an iPhone 5 (her publication finally switched over last month). And, after years and years of bashing iPhone users as simply a cult following, she now is IN LOVE with her new iPhone. She can't believe she lasted all this time without one. She is posting multiple photos on Facebook every day (with the new copyright app). She's a photographer too working for a major publication. She can't live without it now. HaHaHa!!

It really is amazing how great optics have gotten. 3 years ago I bought a 10.1megapixel SONY camcorder, it sits in it dock unless I need to do a long recording.

It is interesting to note that Professional Photo Award Organizations have recently set standards in which iPhone photographs can be entered. More and more iPhone photographs are being entered for these photojournalism awards, such as the prestigious World Press Photo Awards and the Pictures of the Year International (POYi). Here is a blog with guidelines (surprise: no filters are allowed on the photojournalism photos): www.aphotoeditor.com/2011/02/15/photojournalists-push-boundaries-with-apps-and-computers/Here is controversy about using app and iPhone for photojournalism: HereAnd, one of the very best iPhone photographers is here: Richard Koci HernandezPerhaps PED should do a piece on how iPhone photography is changing the photojournalism community!!! It really is!

Here in Saint Paul. we had -30 (30 below zero Fahrenheit) windchill factor this week. LOL, when it gets into the 20's, yes I consider that cold. We are 1200 miles south of you. We don't like it, that is why we live down here. ;D I was just saying that it is unseasonable cool here. It is 23 in NYC and 34 here in Georgia. Our advantage is that the sun is out and we will warm up quickly. Answer me this, there were two huge pile ups due to "white outs" in the last couple of days, why are you people on the road when you can't see in front of you? A tractor trailer has no business on a highway going 60 mph in a driving snow storm. That just does not make sense. LOL, 2 inches of snow down here and it is chaos.

I have some Zeiss binoculars bought in East Berlin back in the 80's =) There were two principles carved in stone within the intelligence community that monitored the Warsaw Pact, and East Germany in particular: The Wall will never come down; and if by some miracle The Wall does come down, the two Germanys will never reunite ... As far as pain theory and conspiracies, a conspiracy is just some people doing some stuff and not telling everyone else they are doing it. For fear of punishment or embarrassment or additional regulation or whatever. And there must be a range of possible validity that can be applied, so that faking the moon landing and manipulating stock price do not measure the same.

OT: Dividends and getting a home loan.
Are qualified dividends included as "income" when determining debt ratios for a home loan ?
Trying to refinance and hoping my Apple dividends will help in that area ....
