Why do people reward corrupt companies like Samsung with their business. It blows my mind that so many are oblivious to Samsung's record of bribery and corruption. It's even more shameful that media outlets give this short shrift, in favor of reporting negative Apple news du jour. It is even more outrageous that AMERICAN media outlets bash Apple and give Samsung a free pass, and act as their cheerleader. Apple, who creates American jobs and associated benefits. And yet they choose to side with the thief because it helps with their page hits. Integrity hardly matters anymore.

Six months of nothing but empty rhetoric. No surprise we are where we are anymore.

Horrific tragedy at the Boston Marathon.
My God. What is going on...stay safe out there.

Today's close had more to do with overall market.
I am still optimistic we will rebound by end of the week.

Good and bad news from Toni Sacconaghi, warming up April 23: Divvy news likely postponed until AFTER April 23 (2 week delay -- at least there's a timeframe on it). He predicts that CFO Peter O may return up to 50% of FCF, yielding 4.5% and putting a floor on the stock at $470. Also, Apple's thinking has evolved and may be open to the debt market to do something bigger than expected. tech.fortune.cnn.com/category/apple-2-0/Told you so ;D.

I wrote to Tim Cook today (tcook@apple.com), venting that Apple's delay in announcing cash plans risks more unnecessary declines in the share price.
Apple has had more than enough time to figure out what to do with the excess cash. Be decisive, one way or the other.

All except financial stocks and Treasuries, went down. Cash is King. Which fruit company has $137 billion in cash and cash equivalents? May be don't buy back its shares, other businesses may be even cheaper ! The S&P is sitting at twice the PE of AAPL...it would need to drop 50% to be just as cheap as Apple buying back it's own shares. I just want a blowout earnings report for a change...I'm tired of sub-standard earnings and really hope they blow it out of the water this quarter. January EPS were identical to the prior year with an extra week, is there no chance that Apple could come close to last April? Didn't say when . ILMP and I had been speculated that AAPL is leading the market, so AAPL might be bottoming but S&P has just started the decline. So with good market-timing ;D, can purchase many businesses for cheap e.g. DIS, GOOG, YHOO, FB, T, COMCAST, etc at the bottom of the market. Much better than buying AAPL in the long run. Only issue, is anti-trust concern and too-big-even-government-is-afraid-of.

As I watch the sad news from Boston I keep looking for a shot of the Boylston Street Apple Store, only one block from the western explosion site. We'll be up there on Sunday. Best thoughts to those affected.

1) My husband's in Boston this week for business; 2) My husband is fine. Thank goodness - I was there on Saturday and they were preparing around town for the Marathon. The whole thing is awful...so many reports and many unconfirmed. One of the deceased is an 8 year old child. I am so heart broken. All else seems so irrelevant. Just terrible.

Live from Boston, may I recc: CBS WBZ Boston TV, they have been live from 9:00 AM. They are the official marathon TV station. ALJAZEERA has EXCELLENT coverage. The NEW YORK POST seems to have inside information hours before anyone else.

Today's close had more to do with overall market. I am still optimistic we will rebound by end of the week. I am still pessimistic we will not. It is hard to see a turn around after a day like this. I expect further selling with a quick bounce tomorrow. Ending at the lowest point is not inspiring right now.

Not even green futures can buoy much optimism with Apple's near term direction. Sacconaghi lowering expectations for hearing cash news on or before April 23 didn't help.

It's rumor until next Tuesday passes with no announcement (or better yet, a "we're in very very very active discussions" sound bite).
It WILL happen. But assuming an annual change in dividend/buyback programs, it doesn't have to be announced next week. Mace might be onto something, we'll see.

Integrity hardly matters anymore. In the "media" there is no integrity. Just a bunch of self-aggrandizing whores in search of Johns, whoops, I meant 'hits', the worst being CNBC.
