Thank you for replying, was messing around with you. Congras for having so many houses. Was surprised that you've so many because I got the impression that only Asians love to stash their wealth in houses, thought Americans love to keep improving their owner-occupied home, drive luxury cars and partying. Americans need fast cars to catch fast women. Do you have a better way? ;D J/k...just trying to keep you off balance with your perceptions, which I find fascinating.

I was at Star Trek and saw a trailer for the Internship which is about a google internship with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan. An entire movie about getting a job at google.

Was not impressed. Does not seem funny enough. Makes google look disfunctional. Side note. Saw Vince with his wife and kid at a local botanical garden two weeks ago. He looked tired and anxious.

Be sure to click the video link that does a nice job of simulating the potential of a REAL Apple iTV. Good timing for this article too, as I'm reading more and more that an Apple SDK WILL BE on the agenda at WWDC and that people are unplugging from cable providers at a growing rate. I should think content deals are going to be easier to come if the old paradigm continues to crumble. This will be a serious new product category for Apple. www.theverge.com/2013/5/15/4152194/apple-tv-concept-video-work-in-progressAll I get from Comcast is internet and a land line. Between Hulu+ and Netflix I get all the content I WANT, and I get it WHEN I want it. When you think of all the content (day old TV programming) and movies/archived television you get for $16/month, you realize the absurdity of paying $100 (or more) for the trash that is 200 or 300 cable channels you don't want.

Mercel, I suppose you find part-time trolls fascinating. Here I was wondering if anyone wanted to talk broader markets and instead we get the almost-afterlife. Again, fascinating. (/notSpock) (/haven'tseenthemovieyet)

Yes! And I already control my thermostat (Nest) and lights (Hue) with my iPad and iPhone. BTW, the functionality of Hue saw a manifold increase with the recent software update (geofencing, etc.). I've been looking at Nest, but since restoring my home (built in 1907) and judiciously adding insulation (removed air conditioning unit) and rehanging windows (also replaced vinyl storm windows with wood) my total gas and electric averages $136/month. That's down from $232 when I moved in. Electric is less than half that. How much more can I save by installing a Nest?

That is why live sports is the holy grail of real disruption of the TV industry. IMO the critical chip to fall is ESPN in the US and whatever entity broadcasts soccer elsewhere.

I didn't do a cost/benefit analysis as I didn't have to. I bought it because I wanted something EASIER to use with more functionality. Plus, it looks cool; I'm a very visual person.

It's been my experience that people in the hot climates overdo the A/C, leaving things too cold for me. All the windows in my home had been nailed shut, with storm windows installed. Turned out the windows had been nailed shut because the counterweight ropes had mostly frayed and broken. I found after I had the windows rehung that the house naturally ventilated (hot air rising and exiting the upstairs windows), cooling the house a good 10 to 15 degrees. A thermostatically controlled exhaust fan in the attic cooled the house even more, and sped the cooling in the evening. Its been 3 years and I have yet to miss the A/C.

Being on Facebook is no crime.
Being ignorant of what it is may say something about your intelligence, though.

I'm looking forward to AAPL performing as it has. I'm tired of selling my cars (had 21 in 2010, have 8 today). Guess which year weeklies were launched.

My electric bill is only $45 per month and I have A/C. Our electric bills are comparable, with mine being slightly higher. But that is being rectified currently. My partner is moving out this weekend (its been a month since she started moving). Nice lady, but it wasn't happening any longer. She never figured out that "off" was the opposite of "on". I'm sure my electric bill is going to decline starting tomorrow. In the move process I've discovered that I don't like being alone, but value my privacy very highly. As closets/drawers, etc were emptied I felt a relief. My house is mine again.

I bought two Nests and they paid for themselves in 10 months. I guess I could have turned off the thermostat every time I left the house but oh well. The auto away feature is simple and very good and shows the benefit of just having a simple motion detector in a thermostat. Now at about a year and a half the Nest has figured out what I like, the house is comfortable and I'm still saving more compared to Pre-Nest. A lot of course depends how much your power company or companies charges to begin with which can vary greatly. Two other people I work with have the Nest and they both have similar experiences.

I value my privacy too. I find that not talking about my domestic situation and underwear drawers on public Internet forums to help in keeping things private. If I must air my inclinations in public, I find that when I am dressed in a Chewbacca outfit in a furbie rendezvous, nobody knows it's me.

The price for those iPads may be more than Apple wants to pay. Turkey wants an Apple factory in exchange for the order.

Me too. Great product. Worth the price for the interface alone (both app and on the unit itself). My old programmable thermostat was a pain to program and thus didn't get programmed as often as it should have been.
