Being on Facebook is no crime.
Being ignorant of what it is may say something about your intelligence, though.

I'm looking forward to AAPL performing as it has. I'm tired of selling my cars (had 21 in 2010, have 8 today). Guess which year weeklies were launched.

If you want something about stocks, how about this comparo between Apple and Google. Therein lies my frustration with finance as entertainment in the media.

My electric bill is only $45 per month and I have A/C. Our electric bills are comparable, with mine being slightly higher. But that is being rectified currently. My partner is moving out this weekend (its been a month since she started moving). Nice lady, but it wasn't happening any longer. She never figured out that "off" was the opposite of "on". I'm sure my electric bill is going to decline starting tomorrow. In the move process I've discovered that I don't like being alone, but value my privacy very highly. As closets/drawers, etc were emptied I felt a relief. My house is mine again.

I've been looking at Nest, but since restoring my home (built in 1907) and judiciously adding insulation (removed air conditioning unit) and rehanging windows (also replaced vinyl storm windows with wood) my total gas and electric averages $136/month. That's down from $232 when I moved in. Electric is less than half that. How much more can I save by installing a Nest? My electric bill is only $45 per month and I have A/C. I didn't do a cost/benefit analysis as I didn't have to. I bought it because I wanted something EASIER to use with more functionality. Plus, it looks cool; I'm a very visual person. I bought two Nests and they paid for themselves in 10 months. I guess I could have turned off the thermostat every time I left the house but oh well. The auto away feature is simple and very good and shows the benefit of just having a simple motion detector in a thermostat. Now at about a year and a half the Nest has figured out what I like, the house is comfortable and I'm still saving more compared to Pre-Nest. A lot of course depends how much your power company or companies charges to begin with which can vary greatly. Two other people I work with have the Nest and they both have similar experiences.

I value my privacy too. I find that not talking about my domestic situation and underwear drawers on public Internet forums to help in keeping things private. If I must air my inclinations in public, I find that when I am dressed in a Chewbacca outfit in a furbie rendezvous, nobody knows it's me.

The price for those iPads may be more than Apple wants to pay. Turkey wants an Apple factory in exchange for the order.

Me too. Great product. Worth the price for the interface alone (both app and on the unit itself). My old programmable thermostat was a pain to program and thus didn't get programmed as often as it should have been.

Just got out of Star Trek. Lots of empty posts. Great movie. Will try to find our how often the iPhone is used to enter theater. So THAT was why there was a phalanx of 20-30-40-50-60 age men marching to an early screening of Star Trek near my theater the other day. Everyone was in street uniform, except RedShirted Ensign, who dressed up as Worf, Son of Mogh. When I said hi, he grunted. Go figure... Was that you, Mercel? I can't see through that Klingon mask. Shu Qi and I enjoyed the movie very much. However, a young Kirk would be no match for a young Picard.

My daughter and I liked it. Tried to figure out how they communicate via their clothes. Looking forward to the iWatch for quick communications and pins as mics.

It's excellent. Price is superb (free). This is what the iPhone weather app SHOULD have been. It beats everything else out there AFAIC. Also, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony playing on HBO is very good -- Heart kicked a**. I'm not such a big fan of inductees except Quincy Jones. And by the way, if Rush can get inducted into the Hall of Fame, surely Thin Lizzy should be there.

Let's go a bit OT since it's the weekend. What _about_ that broader market? The accelerated uptrend has gone parabolic, assuming it wasn't already! Times like these I just can't rationalize the markets. GOOG having a multiple of 27 on nowhere near that percentage of earnings growth is just one "symptom". I like that the markets are making new ATHs (IMHO, that's good in macro terms of 10+ years or whatever), but... Markets parabolic. Metals melting. See metal futures tonight. Melting!

Yes! And I already control my thermostat (Nest) and lights (Hue) with my iPad and iPhone. BTW, the functionality of Hue saw a manifold increase with the recent software update (geofencing, etc.). I'm glad we're finally discussing home automation! That bastard Einhorn refused to answer or discuss my question on the call.
