Today the IRS's Inspector General is being questioned by the Senate (at 9:30 EST), Tim Cook testifies in Senate, and Jamie Dimon learns his fate as being both Chairman and CEO - or if shareholders vote to split the role. Cue the drama music professor: da ra ra ra.....
It's like dinner and a show brought to you (mostly) by our hard earned tax dollars, instead of Congress (in the case of the first two) doing something constructive. Let's hope TC is assertive, concise, and not so..."incredibly gentile" in his responses. Enjoy your day!

Lots of headlines about Apple in the UK media this morning...usual negative stance.
Does anyone know if the Senate meeting is televised?

My guess is that AAPL brings ratings - even when there is no AAPL news, the media fabricates just to draw the audience...which brings me to the conclusion that they will televise some of the hearings today.

Dumb bunny Carl Levin, since when does where the intellectual property created have any affect or relevance on tax rates? And OBTW, dumbass, Apple paying a lower rate in Ireland means they pay a *higher* rate in the US (smaller tax credit!). Democratic senator pressured IRS to investigate nonprofitsYou won't be forgotten in November 2014, Senator.

does anyone know why its just tim cook/aaple being put up there? every other company does the same thing. Google's effective tax rate is just as low. GE effectively gets money back due to their crazy tax strategy.

My gawd, will this fucker ever shut up?
BTW, nice epic fail C-SPAN, showing boring Brookings Institution Obamacare nonsense on TV as Senate grills Apple and marks up amnesty bill.

Tax avoidance? More like tax DEFERRAL, Mr. Levin. And further, did you KNOW that Apple has booked its expectation that it will pay U.S. taxes upon repatriation? Other multinationals don't even do this.
Look in the mirror Levin, and you will see who the responsible party is for tax policy.

Yes "sequester" is now AAPL's fault. They are an evil company that avoid taxes. Closing loopholes will fix our country's deficit, of course. Then when we drive away companies completely from USA we'll be FUBAR.

To Mr. Levin and Mr. McCain. The loopholes were put there BY YOU, largely by special interests paying YOU to put them there. Further, it's a fact Apple pays LESS for these loopholes than other multinational companies.
Senators, is this a shakedown or just grandstanding? Fix the tax code. That's YOUR job.

Who knew that Mr. Paul reads AFB? He says to Levin and McCain: LOOK IN THE MIRROR. This is Congress' problem, not Apple's.

I want to know who on that panel DOES NOT have a trust or charitable foundation?! Goodness - they are robbing seniors and Head Start Programs according to Levin! (Excuse me while I pop my blood pressure pills)
