From all business channels and academicians, Tim Cook was articulate, concise, assertive, passionate...and came across (in my opinion) as more of a patriot at times than Congress. This was his "moment"...for sure. He really did us proud! Stock slightly green in PM this morning...let's see what the day brings and remember that this coming weekend is Memorial Day 3 day holiday weekend...which means that people often take off altogether or leave early on Friday...so it may affect liquidity.

After listening to yesterday hearings I'm so glad it was not sj there yesterday. I could only imagine the short answer he would have give to some stupid questions.....

AAPL green in PMT, probably due to this:
"Morgan Stanley's Katy Huberty says iPhone sales are tracking at about 31M units in the June quarter, well ahead of her team's expectation of 26M and Street consensus of 27M."
Meanwhile here across the pond, the Footsie is rapidly approaching its all time high, last set 13 years ago....

Jobs might not have volunteered, and I'm not sure the committee would have subpoenaed him. But had he appeared, I imagine there would have been more fireworks.

Based on what I am reading and momentum. 440-445 were floors and resistance for a while in the last three months. Now I want us to pass 467 and 485. Both may be challenging without some big news. WWDC can do it only if it hints on something big in the fall.

The anodized black iPhones just don't retain their appearance unless one puts a case on it and leaves it hermetically sealed. I chose a white one and still looks pristine, even without a case. I hope Apple can improve the durability of the black iPhone's finish next go around.

It is amazing. The stronger the DOW gets, the weaker aapl becomes.
Only a market wide correction will help aapl.

BB Top around 470 and trending lower and BB low 414 and trending higher. Trading range tightening. We are kind of in no mands land right now, but due to the tightening of BB I suspect a distinct move is coming in a couple days as the BB top and bottom converge.

100 Day MA starting to come into play showing signs of flattening/ bottoming out and convergign with 50day and 20 day which is positive. The big concern is that long lost resistance 200MA who appears to be light years away up in the 530's trending down.

I reposted this just to show that we don't have to wince every time Tim speaks

So I sold shares I bought in the mid 430 and 420. I was getting a margin call as well. I found that out after I sold. Now I will wait until after the holiday to see how the market reacts. 445 may not happen today after all if this weakness continues.

Apple has a cube so Amazon must have a sphere... I read somewhere that the walls of this structure are razor thin. STO: 5/24 445 calls.

After listening to yesterday hearings I'm so glad it was not sj there yesterday. I could only imagine the short answer he would have give to some stupid questions..... I have to admit to being wrong about this. TC did a great job. While stockholders may have enjoyed the spectacle of some red meat from Jobs, it would have been counter productive to Apple's longer term interests. TC hit the all the right notes. Probably best to leave the fire and brimstone to proxies like Rand Paul and Rush Limbaugh. Even The NY Times was somewhat sympathetic. Has anyone (of note) really written what would happen with AAPL should a repatriation holiday or better yet, a permanent offshore tax change happen? Edit: Great article by WSJ: The Apple Tax Diversion And PED's roundup suggests that TC received mostly rave reviews:

Jumped ship today on May 31 and Jan '14 calls with AAPL around ~447. Waiting for re-entry at a lower price maybe this Friday or next week to hold until WWDC.

Seems clear that day-to-day the direction of the broader market is impacting the direction of AAPL.
If the market is as overbought and as due for a pullback as everyone thinks, could this tank our hope for a sizeable IHS bounce in the next month or two? I love the IHS setup and the 20/50 MA cross here, but the direction of the market is my biggest concern right now.

As much as I prefer the approach Howard Hughes took when he appeared before Congress (aggressively challenged the members to a fight, that he won), I can see that Tim's manner was just as effective. At this point my respect for him knows no bounds. Now about those calls of a month ago for his head. Oh, almost forgot. Sent emails yesterday to Levin, McCain and Cook. Guess who has already responded.

Two months ago a day like yesterday would have tanked the stock.

The failed retest has cleared the way for for higher prices. Not going to forecast price/date, but will state I think the 100 SMA will turn positive this week, with the 20 SMA and 50 SMA both crossing the 100 SMA before July earnings.

I've been looking at selling 10 $445 Puts for May 31. Premium is double the $445 Call. If the shares are Put to me my net cost will be $434.xx/share, otherwise I keep the $10.xx premium.
