Everybody must still be sleeping. Pretty flat PM right now.

Not sleeping, already in my last few working hours.
As I do not have any interesting remarks, I will just do a close prediction: 450 plus/minus a few cents.
That was easy, it is much more difficult to do this for TSLA, where I am pondering about another small investment into calls.

Daily SMA100 and SMA20 are less than 2 points from a bullish cross.

Already got my AAPL options setup for a WWDC play, just doing side bets with TSLA till then. The bid ask spreads on my TSLA options are very wide though. Got some Jun 125/130s @0.70 yesterday I'd love to close out at 0.90 today, but if that's not possible I'll hold out for Monday-Tuesday and go from there.

Powerful start to the day. 30 minutes in, up $4 on big volume (2.8 million shares). This doesn't suck.

Definitely not sleeping in but helping clean out a dorm room after yesterday's graduation. Beautiful commencement (Harvard)...we had Oprah Winfrey as the speaker. At first I rolled my eyes when I heard who was going to speak - and then of course the jokes started ... Perhaps she would give all the graduates a new car! Anyway - no such luck - but I was impressed with her insightful and inspiring address. Beautiful day!
Here is a question I have for many of you who are better versed and more familiar with the inner workings at AAPL: I just called 1-800-my apple to trouble-shoot a battery issue and the woman helping me had me on the phone for 45 minutes. She kept saying she had to look things up. Eventually she passed me to someone she identified as a senior person. He was completely on the ball and the difference between the two was so ridiculously vast that I felt compelled to share my displeasure about the earlier tech. Naturally he apologized but it was the reason he gave that immediately perked my ears up. He said that there was a big event next week and so they beefed up their staff in order to handle what might be an influx of calls due to major announcements. My question is: is this normal and happens every year or is something unusually big happening there next week? Does anyone know if this is normal protocol or suspicious?

My question is: is this normal and happens every year or is something unusually big happening there next week? Does anyone know if this is normal protocol or suspicious? I had a similar situation when I had trouble with my Time Capsule. It took well over an hour and actually two calls and a few emails. But it got resolved. I think it is a natural condition that Apple finds itself in as it has grown so much in the last 5 years. They are hiring people left and right and not everyone knows everything. Our stock is doing well this morning. Between buying yesterday and today with increase buying power, I am officially done with buying until I sell it all in the next 3 weeks. That is my calls not stock. Everyone is focused on 465. If we break that next week, we could be off to the races. The question will be weather we hit a wall at 485 or just keep going to 530. It will be fun to watch. On a different subject, I think Samsung is in real trouble with GS4. The fact that they are introducing a small screen tells me that demand for the 5" is not that strong. We will get a better picture in the next 6 months.

Actually Sponge-my question is more about whether the gentleman on the phone tipped his hand or whether this is normal protocol every year before this event. Anyone know?

Thanks for sharing that. It could be fairly standard but is intriguing language. Not sure how announcements would cause a major uptick with support calls unless there was immediate availability with new MacBooks.
iWork is VERY long in the tooth -- the last major upgrade was 2009. So, THAT could be announced in addition to what I expect, as follows:
1. iOS7 (Jony Ive on stage?) 2. OSX (Craig Federighi) 3. Apple TV SDK 4. Announcement of MacBook Pros and Airs (and Mac Pro, I THINK) 5. One more thing...(iWork? iLife?, Something New?)

I wouldn't count on AppleCare knowing too much inside info.
If anything I'd say he's referring to WWDC indirectly, and he's off by a few days (though the staff may get some advance briefing/training).
Btw, for future reference 45 minutes should never, ever be spent on the phone with an AppleCare rep. I've called more than once and they're much quicker than that. Next time, consider hanging up and starting over.

Geez, the Apple Blinders are really strong with this one...you really think Samsung is in trouble? Their rapidly growing revenue, sales and earnings show they're in trouble??
The Galaxy S4 is their signature product and an analyst just came out this morning claiming it would sell 80 Million this year.
Also, didnt you just say you were done buying 2 days ago??

It's embarassing that there hasn't been any significant refresh of iWork since 2009...there are many businesses who would love to ditch Office, but iWork is so far behind. Why they're ignoring this market is beyond me.

Some of the AppleCare newbies can help with location of the power button and how to use the trackpad and keyboard (I kid) but you're right, dial again for a more knowledgeable "genius" vs. wearing your patience thin.

Samsung is just friggin' fine. They've always been huge in handsets well before Apple came along. The mini is just part of their product cadence. Though there ain't much mini about a BigPhone except in comparison to a HugePhone...

Thinking my way through today's trading, and how to play WWDC run up.
I'm still of the mind that the June Wk1 $450/$455 BCS is the right play (3 day trend line with WWDC catalyst at the end of the rainbow). Unfortunately, my order (tried to get them on the cheap) did not fill this AM, so what to do from here?
A little over 2 hours into today's session and AAPL looks like it has stalled at ~$455.xx. This could be good news for anyone wanting to pick up the June Wk1 $450/$455 BCS. AAPL's 5 MDA intraday trading range is currently ~$7.50 (although the range is on a downward slope). If we anticipate today's range (extending the downward slope) to be about >$5.xx, then today's low could be ~$450.xx.
Working the delta on the $450/$455s backwards, that means its possible that one could acquire them at $2.45 later today. Anyway, that's what I'm thinking, so I'm going to continue with my current buy order.

At $456+ the price action is amazingly resilient despite it being weekly expiry.

Once more, AAPL follows the script. I don't see Apple repurchasing shares to stop this weekly nonsense. Come on Apple, prove me wrong.
Perhaps it's time for Plan B, which is to split this stock 10 to 1.

Perhaps it's time for Plan B, which is to split this stock 10 to 1. I think the buy back sets a floor of 440 and slowly melts us up. I also think it will set us up for quick moves upward in 12-24months when there may be less shares floating. I think we will close above 453 and I will call it a good short week. Up week over week is still good in my book.
