EDIT: I guess I DID open the Weekend Updates bar! Sort of. Cheers! And boo to pain range. again. My post from intraday: No, I don't want Helvetica Neue Ultra Light to be the official font of iOS or OS X. S'called hard to read on smaller screens! But those banners _do_ make me wonder. You can see the semi-minimalist banners at Mac Rumors.

Whatcha gonna do. It's a phenomenon.
Far as that subscription service, let's see how anyone can offer iOS anything on unapproved hardware.

I like surprises, but what I REALLY want...is solid intel from the usual suspects (Gurman at 9to5Mac, Ritchie at iMore, NYT, WSJ, etc.)

Well they aren't offering iOS itself, just 3rd party apps originally designed for iOS. There's a few legal windows emulators, so unless they are actually using proprietary apple code (which they claim they aren't), I don't see any legality issues.

Technicals for Non-Technicals Chart: Looks pretty good from this chart. ^^ If not for the daily chart losing key moving averages and the bearish MACD-h cross, I might be wheeeing. Monday feels very important...

Wait WHAT?
I thought your read was somewhat bearish.
WWDC is totally the setup IMHO, though who knows if Monday will provide the clues we need for the rest of the week. I may actually sell my Aug calls on Monday regardless of the market open (I can't see how Apple impresses at WWDC, just because the bar is set too high). Of course, I bought the Aug calls for a reason - trading thesis was what I perceived to be just enough momentum end of day to carry over to Monday when OpEx distortion is more or less at lowest tide. And also, trading anything shorter term than Aug calls, which are plenty short-term enough, could get crazy.

Wait WHAT? I thought your read was somewhat bearish. *I* am bearish, based on my read of the daily chart: below that tangle of moving averages and the MACD-histogram bearish cross. I'm also a bit paranoid that IF we're in for a few months of rangebound consolidation, we will crisscross back and forth, and the whiplash will constantly make me think: we're breaking out, we're breaking down, we're....like the first half of 2011 between 320-360, then Fall 2011 between 350-420 (when "last chance to buy" was suuuuurrrreeee not the last chance!). But that Fib chart supports Doc's optimism -- we're reclaiming at least 61.8% after every drop, and we aren't relinquishing more than 61.8 of reclaimed territory...yet.

Hey, just give me "tradable action" and I can work with that. But I think AAPL will need some momentum into 460 at the very least to make rangebound trading possible. As a "base case" that coincidentally helps build a base going forward, that is.
Next week will be chock full of clues. Looking for an uptick in volume closer to 15M than 10M near the end of the week. Otherwise, AAPL could just slump along until the July earnings report, since I doubt there'll be any big Apple news between WWDC and then.

While we wait for Monday. I recommend the WWDC App. You can watch old WWDC videos. Last is interesting and worth going over. It provides clues in how Apple operates.

I see the option under "All Years" on the video button. I'm surprised Apple incorporated these into the app. I'm going to miss Monday's live presentation, sadly.

Exploring the app a bit further, please note that Moscone's Presidio room is the biggest room (it's the stage for the keynote) and there are NUMEROUS "Session to be Announced" placeholders in this room all week.
WWDC historians: Does anyone recall if this year's WWDC contains more "TBA" type placeholders than prior years. Very intriguing -- the schedule is littered with them, in multiple rooms.

I don't want to look it up. It's Saturday morning and I'm still half asleep.
Once again, how much did Apple dedicate to the buyback, and the time frame for it to occur. Thanks in advance (please ignore the occasional snoring).

They indicated that approx 2B of the original 10B had already been spent.

Doubling down on product secrecy.
WWDC may one day outgrow Moscone (though for operational reasons I can see why Apple would keep WWDC "confined" to Moscone, there aren't enough engineers to go around and there's always video/distance course possibilities). It sells out in minutes and thousands of devs don't get in. So that alone doesn't tell us much.

I don't see any references within the app to suggest that. On the other hand, there are events scheduled at locations identified as Nob Hill, Marina, and Pacific Heights.

I noticed that nobody has mentioned the new Google movie. When I first saw the trailer, I thought, "oh crap, a 2-hour Google PR movie with the Wedding Crashers comic duo." But then I saw the reviews. It is getting destroyed by critics for the exact reason I mentioned above, i.e., essentially 2 hours of barely funny product placement of a not very beloved product (or service). 'The Internship': What the Critics Are Saying33% rating on Rotten TomatoesNot that Google doesn't deserve the hate, but it makes me wonder if any company could have gotten away with this in our cynical age, when vilifying corporations is in vogue. Makes me glad nobody tried this sort of thing set on the Apple campus

I'm in for any movie designed around laughs at Google's expense. Now I'm going to see it. Thanks for the thumbs up...
