Not sure how many of you had heard of the amazing finish to the #1 Alabama @ #5 Auburn game yesterday, aka the Iron Bowl. Big rivalry, Alabama won 41-0 last year, and are 2-time defending BCS champs.
So the game was tied with 1 second left, and Alabama tries a 57-yard field goal that is wide right - and is caught by an Auburn player in the end zone, who proceeds to run it back 100 yards to win the game.
Auburn alums were quite excited:

Do yourself a favor and download machash for iPad and iPhone. It uses all the major apple news outlets and compiles all the news. It's great

Having been retired for the last 14 months, I've been too busy to be here much. I did sell all my AAPL last June at $440 and bought back in at $402 on July 1. That's my only major trade in 2013.

Now, you don't teach at a public university, right....or a private school with government support in any way? I worry that you might not be livin' the dream.... ;D Good one Red! Done shopping, 3 iPhone 5s', 2 iPad Airs and a MacBook Pro in recent weeks. Zeke, hope life is good and the Bambino is doing well.

As much as I would love the US to embrace libertarian, pro-growth ideals, it ain't gonna happen for various reasons. There are many strong impediments preventing a switch from our borrow-and-consume Ponzi GDP to a produce-and-save economy. For one, there is a powerful, persuasive faction in this country which would not be empowered for long by prosperous, independent citizens who do not need government to provide for them. And the last thing you want is a VAT in addition to the income tax. So be careful what you wish for. But a foreign profits repatriation holiday of some sort is possible. Might have to wait for Jan 2015 though. #NuclearOption Agree about The VAT and one of the provisions for passing a Fair Tax is that a Constitutional amendment repealing the 16th Amendment would take effect before the Fair Tax could be enacted. Also agree it will never happen. Too much at stake for those who get to make the rules. Repatriation maybe but I see them going after the money in more nefarious ways first.

And yeah, as I said before I edited my retort (so Red didn't think I was mad at him), I take a huge opportunity cost hit for my hobby/avocation of teaching. I consider it giving back. But I figured some lib like Chas would come in and assume I was zinged (zung?). Limited government, not no government.
