It raises the question about Phone innovation being as much in other courts, not necessarily Apple.
Do not misread me, I love Apple. But the other vendors have some valid products.

Apple currently has a stellar lineup of products. Even though I tend to use my Apple products a LONG time, I could not resist purchasing a new 15" MacbookPro Retina (to replace my 5 yr old MacbookPro), a new 13" MacbookAir for my wife (replacing her 3 yr old perfectly good MacbookAir), a 5s for her, and an iPadAir to replace my first gen iPad. Oh yeah, and a 3 TB Time Capsule to replace our 5 yr old Time Capsule.
Take that, Tax Man! Happy Holidays to all longs!

Consider the source. Jesus Diaz, author of stuff like this: gizmodo.com/5302637/htc-heros-teflon-coating-makes-the-iphone-feel-like-junkMaybe not as bad as Pendola, I don't follow either blogger - but he's got more than enough questionable posts for me to look elsewhere for fair Apple commentary. More than enough peoplw with opinions out there, so why bother sifting for gems from a hit piece generator? To this day I'm fascinated by people who claim Apple copied Palm's Cards when Palm could have been just as easily inspired by the MobileSafari 1.0 window-switcher (hmm... webOS...) AND Cover Flow (hmm...Kindle Fire...) Of COURSE other vendors have valid products. Of COURSE companies including Apple are "inspired" by each other and occasionally implement "suspiciously similar" features. Useful functionality often coalesces in similar forms, after all. Competent competition may have killed Apple some years ago - but not now. How is competition bad for Apple, exactly? I'd have liked a lot of them to not rip off iOS so blatantly, though. At least Windows Phone 7/8 and Palm and BB had some originality.

It's brilliant...the phrasing, the elocution...masterful.... And what few people know is that Mercel's real name is Wesley, which makes the order to: "shut up Wesley” all the more sweet... O.k.,,,,let's get Apple off to a good Monday run...

Chances for earlier fed tapering also can soften up stocks this week.

Futures are red from a drop in China Manufacturing. I think the early reaction is overdone but we'll see soon enough. Chances for earlier fed tapering also can soften up stocks this week. Note, it's the HSBC flash manufacturing PMI survey, which can differ from China's own PMI number. We'll see about how much tapering's been baked into the market soon. Markets have been on a monster run, but on the other hand the S&P took almost five years to reclaim its prior high. As usual my focus is on AAPL this week. It's about time for China Mobile to launch its LTE network (I assume it'll be Dec. 18), and hopefully iPhone for immediate sale the same day. No way there's a production issue for Apple, considering the TD-LTE iPhone was cleared to operate in China two months ago: www.engadget.com/2013/10/14/iphone-5s-5c-china-mobile-tenaa-certification/

Negotiations probably to continue just a couple days more.

Negotiations probably to continue just a couple days more. Mav, weren't you expecting more in the way of news, rumors, photos, expectations over the weekend, leading up to a launch (if real)? I didn't expect any leaks from Apple, but was CH able to patch the sieve?

This article in The NY Times is wrong in 12 different ways, as most of its articles are. Way too biased in favor of the object, almost read like a PR Newswire release (like its stories on all things Obama). Totally misses the obvious. Any AFB poster here could have written a more accurate article. But it is worth a read. Gotta read between lines. The key takeaway: Samsung wants to be Apple, which means OS control; as I have said before, eventually, Samsung is going to drop Android like a bad habit. Samsung: Uneasy in the Lead. Ultimately, it will be Samsung vs. Google, and we can sit back and laugh at the Karma. As Henry Kissinger said about the Iran-Iraq War, "Too bad they both can't lose."

At this point I'll be shocked if there's no news the day China Mobile officially launches its 4G LTE network.

It wasn't your prediction of 15m sold on Dec 18? ;D No, just sheer speculation about volume of chatter, that's all.
